The Imam Ali Library is a free static site for reading the words of Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (AS). Rather than covering a single title, it holds two books side by side, each keeping the structure its compiler gave it — the numbering of the sermons, letters, and sayings.
Nahj al-Balagha
“The path of eloquence”: a selection of the sermons, letters, and short sayings of Imam Ali (AS) compiled by al-Sharif al-Radi in the 4th century AH — about 241 sermons, 79 letters and covenants, and 480 short sayings. After the Quran it is among the most important literary works in the Islamic world.
Ghurar al-Hikam wa Durar al-Kalim
“Exalted aphorisms and pearls of speech”: more than eleven thousand short sayings attributed to Imam Ali and gathered by Qadhi Abu al-Fath Abd al-Wahid al-Tamimi al-Amudi (d. 510 AH). The complete Arabic–English corpus contains 11056 sayings, presented here as one simple sequence of twenty sayings per page, all readable and searchable.
What is available
- Nahj al-Balagha — all 480 sayings, the full text of 20 letters, and the opening of the first sermon.
- Ghurar al-Hikam — 11056 sayings, twenty to a page.
The remaining texts are added gradually. Search covers the available texts only; nothing that has not been added appears in the results.
Sources
The Arabic text and English rendering of Ghurar al-Hikam follow the Ansariyan edition translated by Tahir Ridha Jaffer (Qum, 2012) and published at Al-Islam.org. The structured text was imported from the open Shiavault mirror, and every topic page credits the source. Persian is displayed only where a separately prepared translation is available; otherwise the English rendering is explicitly labelled.
