حکمت ۱ تا ۲۰Sayings 1 to 20
بِرُّوا آباءَكُمْ يَبـََرَّكُمْ أبْناؤُكُمْ.
به پدرانتان نیکی کنید تا فرزندانتان به شما نیکی کنند.
Be good to your parents and your children will be good to you.
مَنْ بَرَّ والِدَيْهِ بَرَّهُ وَلَدُهُ.
هر که به پدر و مادرش نیکی کند، فرزندش به او نیکی کند.
Whoever is good to his parents, his child will be good to him.
مَوْتُ الوالِدِ قاصِمَةُ الظَّهْرِ.
مرگ پدر، کمرشکن است.
The death of a father breaks one’s back.
مَنِ اسْتَنْكَفَ مِنْ أبَوَيهِ فَقَدْ خالَفَ الرُّشْدَ.
هر که از پدر و مادرش ننگ دارد، از راه راست دور افتاده است.
One who scorns his parents has diverged from the right path.
مَوَدَّةُ الآباءِ نَسَبٌ بَيْنَ الأبناءِ.
دوستیِ پدران، پیوند خویشاوندی میان فرزندان است.
The affection of parents is [the basis of] the relationship between siblings.
اُطْلُبُوا الخَيْرَ في أخْفافِ الإبِلِ طارِدَةً ووارِدَةً.
خیر را در سُمِ شتران بجویید، چه رانده شوند و چه فرا رسند.
Seek goodness in the hoofs of the camel when driven away and when coming back.
مِسْكينٌ اِبْنُ آدَمَ، مَكْتُومُ الأجَلِ، مَكْنُونُ العِلَلِ، مَحفُوظُ العَمَلِ، تُؤْلِمُهُ البَقَّةُ، وتُنْتِنُهُ العَرَقَةُ، وتَقْتُلُهُ الشَّرْقَةُ.
بیچاره است فرزند آدم! اجلش پوشیده، بیماری‌هایش نهفته، عملش محفوظ؛ پشه‌ای می‌آزاردش، عرقی بدبوش می‌سازدش و لقمه‌ای [در گلومانده] می‌کُشدش.
How wretched the son of Adam is! His death is hidden, his ailments concealed, his every action recorded, harmed by the bite of a mosquito, made malodorous by perspiration and caused to die by [something as simple as] choking.
وَيْحَ ابْنِ آدَمَ ما أغْفَلَهُ، وَعَنْ رُشدِهِ ما أذْهَلَهُ.
وای بر فرزند آدم! چه بسیار غافل است و از راه راستش چه بسیار بی‌خبر!
Woe to the son of Adam! How heedless and negligent of his salvation he is!
وَيْحَ ابْنِ آدَمَ، أسيرُ الجُوعِ، صَريعُ الشَّبَعِ، غَرَضُ الآفاتِ، خَليفَةُ
وای بر فرزند آدم! اسیر گرسنگی و کشتهٔ سیری، هدف آفت‌ها و جانشینِ [رفتگان].
Woe to the son of Adam! A prisoner of hunger, prone to overeating, a target of calamities and a successor of the dead.
رُبَّ ذي اُبَّهـَة أحْقَرُ مِنْ كُلِّ حَقير.
بسا باشکوهی که از هر خوار، خوارتر است.
It is possible that a person who possesses [apparent] grandeur is actually the lowliest of the low.
اَلإيثارُ فَضيلَةٌ، اَلإحْتِكارُ رَذيلَةٌ.
ایثار فضیلت است و احتکار رذیلت.
Self-sacrifice is a virtue, hoarding [wealth] is a vice.
الإيثارُ أشرَفُ الإحْسانِ.
ایثار شریف‌ترینِ نیکی است.
Self-sacrifice is the noblest benevolence.
الإيثارُ شيمَةُ الأبْرارِ.
ایثار خوی نیکان است.
Self-sacrifice is a trait of the virtuous.
الإيثارُ غايَةُ الإحْسانِ.
ایثار غایت نیکی است.
Self-sacrifice is the highest degree of benevolence.
الإيثارُ أشرَفُ الكَرَمِ.
ایثار شریف‌ترینِ بزرگواری است.
Self-sacrifice is the noblest munificence.
الإيثارُ أعلَى الإحْسانِ.
ایثار والاترینِ نیکی است.
Self-sacrifice is the highest form of benevolence.
الإيثارُ أعلَى المَكارِمِ.
ایثار والاترینِ مکارم است.
Self-sacrifice is the loftiest of noble traits.
الإيثارُ أفضَلُ عِبادَة، وأجَلُّ(أحْسَنُ) سيادَة.
ایثار برترین عبادت و باشکوه‌ترین سروری است.
Self-sacrifice is the greatest worship and the most sublime eminence.
الإيثارُ أعْلى مَراتِبِ الكَرَمِ، وأفْضَلُ الشِّيَمِ.
ایثار بلندترین درجهٔ بزرگواری و بهترینِ خوی‌هاست.
Self-sacrifice is the highest level of munificence and the most excellent quality.
