حکمت ۲۱ — موضوع ۵ · Self-SacrificeSaying 21 — Self-Sacrifice

الإيثارُ أحْسَنُ الإحْسانِ وأعْلى مَراتِبِ الإيمانِ.

ایثار نیکوترینِ نیکی و بلندترین درجهٔ ایمان است.

Self-sacrifice is the best [form of] benevolence and the highest stage of faith.

حکمت ۲۲ — موضوع ۵ · Self-SacrificeSaying 22 — Self-Sacrifice

الإيثارُ سَجِيَّةُ الأبْرارِ، وَشيمَةُ الأَخيارِ.

ایثار سرشت نیکان و خوی برگزیدگان است.

Self-sacrifice is a trait of the virtuous and a quality of the righteous.

أفضَلُ السَّخاءِ اَلإيثارُ.

برترینِ بخشندگی، ایثار است.

The most excellent generosity is self-sacrifice.

أحسَنُ الكَرَمِ اَلإيثارُ.

نیکوترینِ بزرگواری، ایثار است.

The greatest munificence is self-sacrifice.

حکمت ۲۵ — موضوع ۵ · Self-SacrificeSaying 25 — Self-Sacrifice

بِالإيثارِ يُسْتَرَقُّ الأحرارُ.

به ایثار است که آزادگان [از سرِ طوع] به بندگی درآیند.

It is through self-sacrifice that the free become enslaved.[^1]

بِالإيثارِ يُسْتَحَقُّ اسْمُ الكَرَمِ.

به ایثار است که نام بزرگواری برازندهٔ کسی شود.

It is through self-sacrifice that munificence gets true meaning.

بِالإيثارِ على نَفْسِكَ تَمْلِكُ الرِّقابَ.

با ایثار بر نفس خود، گردن‌ها [دل‌ها] را به فرمان آوری.

By preferring others over yourself, you gain [their] servitude.

خَيْرُ المَكارِمِ الإيثارُ.

بهترینِ مکارم، ایثار است.

The best of noble traits is self-sacrifice.

عِنْدَ الإيثارِ علَى النَّفْسِ تتَبَيَّـنُ جَواهِرُ الكُرَماءِ.

هنگام ایثار بر نفس است که گوهرِ بزرگواران آشکار شود.

It is when they prefer others over themselves that the spirit of noble people becomes evident.

غايَةُ المَكارِمِ الإيثارُ.

غایت مکارم، ایثار است.

The highest of noble traits is self-sacrifice.

كَفى بالإيثارِ مَكْرُمَةً.

ایثار را بس که بزرگواری است.

Self-sacrifice suffices as nobility.

حکمت ۳۲ — موضوع ۵ · Self-SacrificeSaying 32 — Self-Sacrifice

مَنْ آثَرَ على نَفْسِهِ بالَغَ في المُرُوءَةِ.

هر که دیگران را بر خود مقدم دارد، در جوانمردی مبالغه کرده است.

Whoever prefers others to himself has reached the height of magnanimity.

حکمت ۳۳ — موضوع ۵ · Self-SacrificeSaying 33 — Self-Sacrifice

مَنْ آثَرَ على نَفْسِهِ اسْتَحقَّ إسْمَ الفَضيلَةِ.

هر که دیگران را بر خود مقدم دارد، نام فضیلت برازنده‌اش شود.

Whoever prefers others to himself deserves to be called a person of virtue.

حکمت ۳۴ — موضوع ۵ · Self-SacrificeSaying 34 — Self-Sacrifice

مَنْ آثَـَركَ بِنَشَبِهِ فَقَدِ اختارَكَ على نَفْسِهِ.

هر که مال و هستی‌اش را بر تو ایثار کند، تو را بر خود برگزیده است.

One who prefers you to his property and wealth has preferred you over himself.

مِنْ شِيَمِ الأبْرارِ حَمْلُ النُّفوُسِ علَى الإيثارِ.

از خوی‌های نیکان، واداشتن نفس‌ها به ایثار است.

From the qualities of the virtuous is impelling themselves to be selfless.

مِنْ أحْسَنِ الإحسانِ اَلإيثارُ.

از نیکوترینِ نیکی‌ها، ایثار است.

One of best [form of] benevolence is self-sacrifice.

مِنْ أفْضلِ الإختيارِ التَّحَلّي بِالإيثار.

از بهترینِ انتخاب‌ها، آراسته‌شدن به ایثار است.

One of the most excellent choices is adorning oneself with selflessness.

حکمت ۳۸ — موضوع ۵ · Self-SacrificeSaying 38 — Self-Sacrifice

لاتُكْمَلُ المَكارِمُ إلاّ بِالعَفافِ والإيثارِ. [^1]: Meaning that when one is selfless, others serve and obey him as though they were his slaves.

مکارم کامل نشود، جز با پاکدامنی و ایثار.

Nobility cannot be fully achieved but by self-restraint and self-sacrifice.

حکمت ۳۹ — موضوع ۶ · The Appointed Time Of DeathSaying 39 — The Appointed Time Of Death

اَلأجلُ مَحْتُومٌ، والرِّزْقُ مَقْسُومٌ، فلا يَغُمَّنَّ أحَدَكُمْ إبطاؤُهُ، فإنَّ الحِرْصَ لايُقَدِّمُهُ، والعَفافُ لا يُؤَخِّرُهُ، والمُؤمِنُ بالتَّحَمُّلِ(بِالتَّجَمُّلِ (خَليقٌ.

اجل حتمی است و روزی مقسوم؛ پس کُندی [رسیدن] آن هیچ‌یک از شما را غمگین نسازد که حرص آن را پیش نیندازد و عفت آن را به تأخیر نیندازد، و مؤمن سزاوار شکیبایی [و خودآرایی] است.

The appointed time of death is [already] determined and sustenance is [already] apportioned, so let not any of you grieve its reduction; for verily greed does not expedite it and self-restraint does not delay it, and it behoves a believer to be patient.

أصْدَقُ شَيْ ء اَلأجَلُ.

راست‌ترین چیز، اجل است.

The truest thing is death.
