صِدقُ الأجلِ يُفْصِحُ (يَفْضَحُ) كِذْبَ الأمَلِ.
راستیِ اجل، دروغِ آرزو را رسوا کند.
The reality of death exposes the lie of [false] aspiration.
في كُلِّ لَحْظَة أجَلٌ.
در هر لحظه اجلی است.
At every moment there is death.
قَدْ غابَ عَنْ قُلُوبِكُمْ ذِكرُ الآجالِ، وَحَضَرَتْكُمْ كَواذِبُ الآمالِ.
یاد اجل‌ها از دل‌هایتان رفته و آرزوهای دروغین بر شما حاضر شده است.
The remembrance of [the times of] death has disappeared from your hearts and has been replaced by false hopes and aspirations.
قَدْ ذَهبَ عَنْ قُلُوبِكُمْ صِدْقُ الأجَلِ، وغَلَبَكُم غُرُورُ الأملِ.
راستیِ اجل از دل‌هایتان رفته و فریب آرزو بر شما چیره شده است.
Your hearts have forgotten the reality of death and you have been overcome by deception of [false] hope.
مَنْ راقَبَ أجَلَهُ إغْتَنَمَ مَهَلَهُ.
هر که اجلش را در نظر گیرد، مهلتش را غنیمت شمارد.
The one who takes death into consideration values his time.
مَنْ دَنى مِنْهُ أجَلُهُ لَمْ تُعِنْهُ (لم تُغْنِهِ) حِيَلُهُ.
آن که اجلش نزدیک آید، چاره‌اندیشی‌هایش سودش ندهد.
One whose death draws near to him cannot be saved [from it] by his efforts.
مِنَ الآجالِ إنْقِضاءُ السَّاعاتِ.
از [نشانه‌های] اجل‌ها، گذشتن ساعت‌هاست.
The passing of time draws one towards death.
ما عَسى أنْ يَكُونَ بَقاءُ مَنْ لَهُ يَوْمٌ لايَعدُوهُ وطالِبٌ حَثيثٌ مِنْ أجَلِهِ يَحدُوهُ.
چه ماندنی است برای آن که روزی دارد از آن درنگذرد و طلبکاری شتابان از اجلش، او را پیش روید؟
How is it possible for one to live forever, when there will come a day which he will not pass and a seeker who will quickly bring him to his death, urging him forwards?
عِنْدَ حُضُورِ الآجالِ، تَظْهَرُ خَيْبَةُ الآمالِ.
چون اجل‌ها دررسند، نومیدیِ آرزوها آشکار شود.
It is when [the time of] death comes that the failure of [one’s] aspirations become apparent.
عِنْدَ هُجُومِ الآجالِ تَفْتَضِحُ الأماني والآمالُ.
چون اجل‌ها درآیند، آرزوها و امیدها رسوا شوند.
When death strikes, hopes and aspirations are exposed.
كُلُّ آت قَريبٌ.
هر آمدنی نزدیک است.
Every future [event] is near.
كَمْ مِنْ مُسَوِّف بِالعَمَلِ حتّى هَجَمَ عَلَيْهِ الأجَلُ.
چه بسیار به‌تأخیراندازنده‌ای که [کار را] به فردا افکند تا اجل بر او درآید.
How many a person has delayed his work until death came upon him!
كَفى بِالأجَلِ حارِساً.
اجل را بس که پاسدار است.
The appointed time of death is sufficient as a guard.
لِكُلِّ أجَل كِتابٌ.
هر اجلی را نوشته‌ای است.
There is a prescribed duration for every term [of life].
اَلأجَلُ يَصْرَعُ.
اجل به خاک افکند.
Death strikes down.
اَلرَّحيلُ وَشيكٌ.
کوچیدن نزدیک است.
Departure [from this world] is imminent.
اَلأجلُ جُنَّةٌ.
اجل سپر است.
The appointed time of death is a shield.
اَلأجَلُ حِصْنٌ حَصينٌ.
اجل دژی استوار است.
The appointed time of death is an impenetrable fortress.
اَلآجالُ تَقْطَعُ الآمالَ.
اجل‌ها آرزوها را برند.
Death cuts hopes short.
