حکمت ۴۲۱ — موضوع ۸ · The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The CompanionSaying 421 — The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The Companionمَنْ لَم يُقَدِّمْ فِي اتّخاذِ الإخوانِ الاعتِبارَ دَفَعَهُ الاغتِرارُ إلى صُحْبَةِ الفُجَّارِ.
هر که در برگزیدن برادران عبرت را پیش ندارد، فریب [خوردن] او را به همنشینی با تبهکاران کشد.
One who takes a brother after successfully evaluating him, his companionship will last longer and his bond will be more firmly established.
حکمت ۴۲۲ — موضوع ۸ · The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The CompanionSaying 422 — The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The Companionمَنِاتَّخذَ أخَاً مِنْ غيرِ اختِبار ألجَأهُ الاضطرارُ إلى مُرافَقَةِ الأشرارِ.
هر که بی‌آزمودن برادری برگزیند، ناچاری او را به همراهی با بدان کشد.
One who does not investigate before he takes a brother will be misled to association with the depraved.
حکمت ۴۲۳ — موضوع ۸ · The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The CompanionSaying 423 — The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The Companionاَلإخْوانُ في اللّه تعالى تَدُومُ مَوَّدَتُهُمْ لِدَوامِ سَبَبِها.
برادران در راه خدای تعالی دوستی‌شان پایدار ماند، چون سببش پایدار است.
One who takes a brother without evaluation will be forced by necessity to associate with the wicked.
حکمت ۴۲۴ — موضوع ۸ · The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The CompanionSaying 424 — The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The Companionإخوانُ الصِّدقِ زينَةٌ في السَّرّاءِ وعُدَّةٌ في الضَّرّاءِ.
برادرانِ راست در خوشی زینت‌اند و در ناخوشی توشه.
The amity between those who are brothers for the sake of Allah endures because of its firm foundation.
حکمت ۴۲۵ — موضوع ۸ · The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The CompanionSaying 425 — The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The Companionاَلأخُ المُكْتَسَبُ في اللّهِ أقْرَبُ الأقْرِباءِ وأحَمُّ مِنَ الأُمَّهاتِ والآباءِ.
برادری که برای خدا به دست آید، نزدیک‌ترینِ نزدیکان است و مهربان‌تر از مادران و پدران.
True brotherhood is an embellishment in times of ease and a provision in times of difficulty.
حکمت ۴۲۶ — موضوع ۸ · The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The CompanionSaying 426 — The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The Companionأخُوكَ في اللّهِ مَنْ هَداكَ إلى رَشاد، ونَهاكَ عَنْ فَساد، وأعانَكَ إلى إصلاحِ معاد.
برادرت در راه خدا آن است که تو را به راه راست رهنمون شود و از تباهی باز دارد و بر اصلاح معادت یاریت کند.
The brother acquired for the sake of Allah is the nearest of relations – even closer than mothers and fathers.
حکمت ۴۲۷ — موضوع ۸ · The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The CompanionSaying 427 — The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The Companionأخُوكَ الصَّديقُ مَنْ وَقاكَ بِنَفْسِهِ، وآثَرَكَ على مالِهِ ووَلدِهِ، وَعِرْسِهِ.
دوستِ [راستینِ] تو آن است که جانت را سپر تو کند و تو را بر مال و فرزند و همسرش مقدم دارد.
Your brother for the sake of Allah is one who guides you towards rectitude, forbids you from corruption and assists you to improve your Hereafter.
حکمت ۴۲۸ — موضوع ۸ · The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The CompanionSaying 428 — The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The Companionقَليلٌمِنَ الإخْوانِ مَنْ يُنْصِفُ.
از برادران اندکی‌اند که انصاف دهند.
Your true friend and brother is the one who protects you with his life, and prefers you over his wealth, his children and his spouse.
حکمت ۴۲۹ — موضوع ۸ · The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The CompanionSaying 429 — The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The Companionقَرينُ السُّوءِ شَـرُّ قَرين وداءُ اللُّؤْمِ داءٌ دفينٌ.
همنشینِ بد، بدترینِ همنشین است و دردیِ لؤم دردی نهفته است.
It is only a few of the brothers who are fair.
حکمت ۴۳۰ — موضوع ۸ · The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The CompanionSaying 430 — The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The Companionقارِنْ أهلَ الخَيرِ تَكُنْ مِنْهُمْ، وبايِنْ أهْلَ الشَّـرِّ تَبِنْ عَنْهُمْ.
با اهل خیر پیوند کن تا از ایشان باشی و از اهل شر ببر تا از ایشان جدا شوی.
An evil companion is the worst of companions; and the disease of ignobility is a concealed disease.
حکمت ۴۳۱ — موضوع ۸ · The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The CompanionSaying 431 — The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The Companionقَدِّمِ الاختبارَ فِي اتِّخاذِ الإخوانِ، فإنَّ الاختِبارَ مِعيارٌ يَفْرُقُ بَيْنَ الأخيارِ والأشرارِ.
در برگزیدن برادران آزمودن را پیش دار؛ چرا که آزمودن میزانی است که میان نیکان و بدان جدا کند.
Accompany the virtuous and you will become one of them; separate yourself from the evil people and you will be dissociated from them.
حکمت ۴۳۲ — موضوع ۸ · The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The CompanionSaying 432 — The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The Companionمَنْ رَفِقَ بِمُصاحِبِهِ وافَقَهُ، ومَنْ أعنَفَ بِهِ أخْرَجَهُ وفارَقَهُ.
هر که با همنشینش مدارا کند، موافقتش کند و هر که با او درشتی کند، بیرونش راند و از او جدا شود.
Be sure to investigate before taking anyone as your brother, for assessment is the gauge that distinguishes the virtuous from the wicked.
حکمت ۴۳۳ — موضوع ۸ · The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The CompanionSaying 433 — The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The Companionمَنْ لَمْ يَرْضَ مِنْ صَديقِهِ إلاّ بِإيثارِهِ على نَفْسِهِ دامَ سَخَطُهُ.
هر که از دوستش جز ایثار بر خود را نخواهد، خشمش همیشگی باشد.
One who is courteous to his companion will gain his acceptance, and one who is harsh to him will drive him away and get separated from him.
حکمت ۴۳۴ — موضوع ۸ · The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The CompanionSaying 434 — The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The Companionمَنْ كانَتْ صُحْبَتُهُ في اللّهِ كانَتْ صُحْبَتُهُ كَريمَةً ومَوَدَّتُهُ مُسْتَقيمَةً.
هر که همنشینی‌اش برای خدا باشد، همنشینی‌اش گرامی و دوستی‌اش استوار باشد.
One who is not pleased with his friend except when he prefers him over himself, will always be resentful.
حکمت ۴۳۵ — موضوع ۸ · The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The CompanionSaying 435 — The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The Companionمَنْ لَمْ تَكُنْ مَوَدَّتُهُ فِي اللّهِ فَاحْذَرْهُ، فَإنَّ مَوَّدَتَهُ لَئيمَةٌ وصُحْبَتَهُ مَشُومَةٌ.
هر که دوستی‌اش برای خدا نیست، از او بپرهیز؛ چرا که دوستی‌اش فرومایه و همنشینی‌اش شوم است.
One whose companionship is for the sake of Allah, his companionship is honourable and his friendship is upright.
حکمت ۴۳۶ — موضوع ۸ · The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The CompanionSaying 436 — The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The Companionمَنْ لَم يَصْحَبْكَ مُعيناً عَلى نَفْسِكَ فَصُحْبَتُهُ وَبالٌ عَليْكَ إنْ عَلِمتَ.
هر که در راه نفست یاورت نباشد، همنشینی‌اش — اگر بدانی — وبالِ توست.
Be careful of the one whose friendship is not for the sake of Allah, for his friendship is wicked and his company is doomed.
حکمت ۴۳۷ — موضوع ۸ · The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The CompanionSaying 437 — The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The Companionمَنْ لَمْ يَحْتَمِلْ زَلَلَ الصَّديقِ ماتَ وحيداً.
هر که لغزش دوست را تحمّل نکند، تنها بمیرد.
One who does not assist you by [his] accompanying you, then his company is [actually] a burden on you, if [only] you knew.
حکمت ۴۳۸ — موضوع ۸ · The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The CompanionSaying 438 — The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The Companionمَنْ طَلَبَ صَديقَ صِدْق وَفيّاً طَلَبَ ما لا يُوجَدُ.
هر که دوستِ راستینِ وفاداری جوید، در پی چیزی است که یافت نشود.
One who does not overlook the mistakes of his friend will die lonely.
حکمت ۴۳۹ — موضوع ۸ · The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The CompanionSaying 439 — The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The Companionمَنْ دَنَتْ هِمَّتُهُ فلا تَصْحَبْهُ.
هر که همتش پست است، با او همنشین مشو.
One who seeks a truly loyal friend, seeks that which cannot be found.
حکمت ۴۴۰ — موضوع ۸ · The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The CompanionSaying 440 — The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The Companionمَنْ لَمْ تَنْفَعْكَ صَداقَتُهُ ضَرَّتْكَ عَداوَتُهُ.
هر که دوستی‌اش سودت نبخشد، دشمنی‌اش زیانت رسانَد.
Do not accompany the one who lacks determination.
