شرُّ أصْدِقائِكَ مَنْ تَتَكَلّفُ لهُ.
بدترینِ دوستانت آن است که برایش تکلّف کنی.
The worst of your friends is the one for whom you [always] have to undergo hardship.
شرُّ الإخوانِ الخاذِلُ.
بدترینِ برادران آن است که تو را واگذارد.
The worst of brothers is one who forsakes you [in times of need].
شرُّ الأصحابِ الجاهِلُ.
بدترینِ همنشینان نادان است.
The worst companion is an ignorant person.
شرُّ الإخوانِ المُواصِلُ عِنْدَ الرَّخاءِ، والمَفاصِلُ عِنْدَ البلاءِ.
بدترینِ برادران آن است که در آسایش پیوند کند و در بلا ببرد.
The worst brother is the one who keeps ties with you in good times but abandons you in times of difficulty.
شرُّ إخوانِكَ مَنْ أغراكَ بِهَوىً، ووَلّهَكَ بالدُّنيا.
بدترینِ برادرانت آن است که تو را به هوی برانگیزد و به دنیا مشغولت سازد.
The worst of your brothers is the one who beguiles you with vain desire and distracts you with this world.
شرُّ إخوانِكَ مَنْ داهَنَكَ في نَفْسِكَ، وساتَرَكَ عَيْبَكَ.
بدترینِ برادرانت آن است که در حق جانت تملّق کند و عیبت را [بپوشاند و باز نگوید].
The worst of your brothers is the one who flatters you and hides your faults from you.
شرُّ إخوانِكَ اَلْغاشُّ المُداهِنُ.
بدترینِ برادرانت فریبکارِ تملّق‌گوست.
The worst of your brothers is the deceiving flatterer.
شرُّ إخوانِكَ مَنْ تَثبَّطَ (يَتبَطّئُ) عنِ الخَيرِ وثبَّطكَ (ويُبَطِّئُكَ) معَهُ.
بدترینِ برادرانت آن است که از خیر باز ماند و تو را نیز با خود باز دارد.
The worst of your brothers is the one who is slow in performing good deeds and slows you down [from doing good] along with him.
شرُّ إخوانِكَ وأغَشُّهُمْ لَكَ مَنْ أغراكَ بِالعاجِلَةِ واَلهاكَ عَنِ الآجِلَةِ.
بدترینِ برادرانت و فریبکارترینِ آنان برای تو آن است که تو را به [دنیای] شتابان برانگیزد و از [آخرت] دیرپا غافلت سازد.
The worst and most deceitful of your brothers is the one who entices you with [the pleasures of] this transitory world and makes you unmindful of the Hereafter.
شرُّ الأصحابِ السَّريعُ الإنقِلابِ.
بدترینِ همنشینان آن است که زود دگرگون شود.
The worst companion is the one who changes [his loyalty] quickly.
شرُّ الأتْرابِ الكثيرُ الإرتيابِ.
بدترینِ همسالان آن است که بسیار بدگمان باشد.
The worst comrade is the one who is very suspicious.
شرُّ الاُلفَةِ إطِّراحُ الكُلفَةِ.
بدترینِ الفت آن است که حرمت‌ها فروگذارَد.
The worst affinity is [one that leads to] putting someone into trouble.
شَرْطُ المُصاحَبَةِ قِلّةُ المُخالَفَةِ
شرط همنشینی، کم‌مخالفتی است.
The condition of companionship is lack of disagreement.
صاحِبُ السُّوءِ قَطْعَةٌ منَ النّار
دوستِ بد پاره‌ای از آتش است.
A bad companion is [like] a splinter of hellfire.
صُحْبَةُ الأخْيارِ تُكْسِبُ (تَكتسِبُ) الخَيرَ كالريحِ إذا مَرَّتْ بالطّيبِ حَمَلَتْ طيباً.
همنشینی با نیکان خیر می‌آوَرَد، چون باد که بر خوشبویی گذرد، خوشبویی بردارد.
Companionship with the righteous leads one to acquire righteousness just like the wind - when it passes by perfume, it carries the fragrance.
مُعاداةُ الكَريمِ أسْلَمُ مِنْ مُصادَقَةِ اللَّئيمِ.
دشمنی با بزرگوار، سالم‌تر از دوستی با فرومایه است.
Enmity with the honourable is safer than friendship with the wicked.
مُصاحَبَةُ العاقِلِ مأمُونَةٌ.
همنشینی با خردمند ایمن است.
The companionship of a wise person is dependable.
مُجالَسَةُ الأبرارِ تُوجِبُ الشَّرَفَ.
مجالست با نیکان شرافت آوَرَد.
Sitting in the company of the virtuous brings honour.
مُصاحَبَةُ الأشرارِ تُوجِبُ التَّلَفَ.
همنشینی با بدان تباهی آوَرَد.
Accompanying the wicked brings ruin.
