حکمت ۲۲۱ تا ۲۴۰Sayings 221 to 240
صَديقُكَ مَنْ نهاكَ، وعدُوُّكَ مَنْ أغراكَ.
دوستت آن است که تو را باز دارد و دشمنت آن است که تو را [به بدی] برانگیزد.
Your friend is one who forbids you [from evil] and your enemy is one who entices you [to Perform evil].
صُحبَةُ الأشرارِ تُوجبُ سُوءَ الظَّنِّ الأخيارِ.
همنشینی با بدان، بدگمانی به نیکان آوَرَد.
Association with the wicked leads one to have negative thoughts about the righteous.
عَلَيكَ بِمُقارَنَةِ ذِي العَقلِ والدِّينِ فإنَّهُ خَيرُ الأصحابِ.
همنشینی با خردمندِ دین‌دار را پیشه کن که او بهترینِ همنشینان است.
You should accompany the one who is intelligent and devout, for surely he is the best of companions.
عَليكَ بإخْوانِ الصَّفا فإنّهُمْ زينَةٌ فِي الرَّخاءِ وعَونٌ فِي البلاءِ.
برادرانِ صفا را پیشه کن که در آسایش زینت‌اند و در بلا یاور.
You should keep ties with brethren of purity, for they are an embellishment in times of ease and a support in [times of] tribulation.
عَلَيكَ بِمُواخاةِ مَنْ حَذَّرَكَ وَنهاكَ فإنّهُ يُنجِدُكَ ويُرشِدُكَ.
با آن‌که تو را بیم دهد و باز دارد برادری کن که یاریت کند و رهنمونت شود.
You should build a bond of brotherhood with the one who cautions and forbids you [from doing evil] for verily he is aiding and guiding you.
مَنّ تَألّفَ النَّاسَ أحَبُّوهُ.
هر که با مردم الفت گیرد، دوستش دارند.
One who is amiable towards people is loved by them.
الإصْطِحابُ قليلٌ.
همنشینیِ [راستین] اندک است.
The companionship [in this world] is short.
الصَّديقُ أقْرَبُ الأقارِبِ.
دوست، نزدیک‌ترینِ خویشان است.
A friend is the closest of relations.
إنّما سُمِّيَ الصَّديقُ صديقاً لأنّه يَصْدُقُكَ في نَفْسِكَ ومَعائبِكَ، فَمَنْ فَعَلَ ذلك فاستَنِمْ إليْهِ فإنَّهُ الصَّديقُ.
دوست را از آن «صدیق» گویند که در حق جان و عیب‌هایت با تو راست گوید؛ پس هر که چنین کند، به او آرام گیر که او همان دوست [راستین] است.
The friend has been named ṣadīq because he is truthful to you about your nature and faults, so have confidence in one who does this for he is your [true] friend.
إنَّما سُمِّىَ الرَّفيقُ رَفيقاً لأنَّه يَرفَقُكَ على إصلاحِ دينكَ فَمنْ أعانَكَ على صَلاحِ دينكَ فَهُوَ الرَّفيقُ الشَّفيقُ.
رفیق را از آن «رفیق» گویند که تو را بر اصلاح دینت مدارا کند؛ پس هر که تو را بر صلاح دینت یاری کند، او همان رفیقِ شفیق است.
The comrade has been named rafīq because he encourages you to improve your religion; so whoever assists you to improve your faith, then he is a concerned comrade.
إذا طالَّتِ الصُّحْبَةُ تأكَّدَتِ الحُرمَةُ.
چون همنشینی دراز شود، حرمت استوارتر شود.
As the companionship prolongs, the [mutual] respect is affirmed.
إذا أحْبَبْتَ السَّلامَةَ فَاجْتَنِبْ مُصاحَبَةَ الجَهُولِ.
اگر سلامت خواهی، از همنشینی با نادان بپرهیز.
If you like to remain safe, then keep away from the companionship of a foolish person.
إذا كَثُرَتْ ذُنوبُ الصَّديقِ قَلَّ السُّرُورُ بهِ.
چون گناهان دوست بسیار شود، شادی به او کم شود.
When the sins of a friend increase, the joy of being with him decreases.
إذَا اتَّخذَكَ وَليُّكَ أخاً فَكُنْ لَهُ عَبْداً وامْنَحْهُ صِدقَ الوفاءِ وحُسْنَ الصَّفاءِ.
چون دوستت تو را برادر گیرد، برایش چون بنده باش و راستیِ وفا و نیکوییِ صفا را به او ارزانی دار.
When your friend takes you as a brother, then be like a servant to him and accord him with true loyalty and perfect sincerity.
إذا ظَهرَ غَدْرُ الصَّديقِ سَهُلَ هَجْرُهُ.
چون خیانت دوست آشکار شود، ترکش آسان شود.
When the disloyalty of a friend becomes evident, forsaking him becomes easy.
بِحُسنِ المُوافَقَةِ تَدُومُ الصُّحبَةُ.
به نیکو موافقت، همنشینی پایدار ماند.
Through mutual understanding, companionship lasts.
بِحُسنِ الصُّحبَةِ تَـكْثُرُ الرِّفاقُ.
به نیکو همنشینی، رفیقان فزون شوند.
Through good companionship, camaraderie increases.
بِئسَ الصَّديقُ المَلولُ(المُلُوك).
دوستِ دمدمی چه بد دوستی است!
The worst friend is the one who is [easily] fed up.
بِئسَ القَرينُ الجَهُولُ.
همنشینِ نادان چه بد همنشینی است!
How bad a colleague the ignoramus is!
