حکمت ۳۲۱ — موضوع ۸ · The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The CompanionSaying 321 — The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The Companionمَنْ دَعاكَ إلى الدَّارِ الباقيةِ، وأعانَكَ علَى العَمَلِ لَها، فَهُوَ الصَّديقُ الشَّفيقُ.
هر که تو را به سرای ماندگار بخواند و بر عمل برای آن یاریت کند، او دوستِ شفیق است.
The noblest of traits is guarding one’s friendship and the best of endeavours is fulfilling one’s promise.
حکمت ۳۲۲ — موضوع ۸ · The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The CompanionSaying 322 — The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The Companionالرَّفيقُ في دُنياهُ كالرَّفيقِ في دينهِِ.
رفیق در دنیا [باید] چون رفیق در دین باشد.
Whoever invites you to the Eternal Abode and assists you to work for it, then he is the true, caring friend.
حکمت ۳۲۳ — موضوع ۸ · The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The CompanionSaying 323 — The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The Companionسَلِ (عنِ) الرَّفيقَِ قَبْلَ الطَّريقِ.
پیش از [پیمودن] راه، رفیق را بپرس.
The friend in one’s worldly life is like the friend in his faith.
حکمت ۳۲۴ — موضوع ۸ · The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The CompanionSaying 324 — The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The Companionلايَحُولُ الصَّديقُ الصَّدُوقُ عَنِ المَودَّةِ وإنْ جُفِىَ.
دوستِ راستین از دوستی بازنمی‌گردد، هرچند جفایش کنند.
Inquire about the companion [on the journey] before the route.
حکمت ۳۲۵ — موضوع ۸ · The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The CompanionSaying 325 — The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The Companionإحمِلْ نَفْسَكَ معَ أخِيكَ عِندَ صَرْمِهِ علَى الصِّلَةِ وعندَ صُدُودهِ علَى اللُّطْفِ والمُقارَبَةِ، وعندَ تَباعُدِهِ علَى الدُنُوِّ، وعندَ جُرمِهِ علَى العُذرِ حتّى كأنّكَ لَهُ عبدٌ، وكأنّهُ ذُو نِعمَة عَلَيكَ، وإيّاكَ أنْ تَضَعَ ذلكَ في غيرِ مَوْضِعهِِ، أو تَفْعَلَهُ معَ غيرِ أهْلِهِ.
خویشتن را هنگام بریدنِ برادرت به پیوند، و هنگام روی‌گردانی‌اش به لطف و نزدیکی، و هنگام دوری‌اش به نزدیک‌شدن، و هنگام خطایش به عذرپذیری وادار؛ چنان‌که گویی بندهٔ او و تو و او صاحب‌نعمتِ توست؛ و زنهار که این را در غیرِ جای خود نهی یا با نااهل کنی.
The true friend will not turn away from his friendship even if he is treated harshly.
حکمت ۳۲۶ — موضوع ۸ · The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The CompanionSaying 326 — The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The Companionإمحَضْ أخاكَ النَّصِيحَةَ حسَنَةً كانَتْ أو(أم) قَبيحَةً.
نصیحت را، چه نیکو باشد چه زشت، خالصانه به برادرت ارزانی دار.
Bring yourself to build ties with your brother when he cuts you off, and to be kind and seek closeness [to him] when he turns away from you, and to be near to him when he distances himself from you, and to assume that he has an excuse when he does something wrong to you – to the extent that you are like his servant, and as if he has done some great favor upon you. Beware however, not to do this where it is not befitting or with someone who is not worthy of it.
حکمت ۳۲۷ — موضوع ۸ · The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The CompanionSaying 327 — The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The Companionإحمِلْ نَفْسكَ عِندَ شِدَّةِ أخيكَ علَى اللّينِ، وعِندَ قَطيعتهِ علَى الوَصلِ، وعِندَ جُمودِهِ علَى البَذلِ، وكُنْ للَّذي يَبدُو مِنْهُ حَمُولاً وَلَهُ وَصوُلاً.
خویشتن را هنگام سختیِ برادرت به نرمی، و هنگام بریدنش به پیوند، و هنگام دریغش به بخشش وادار، و نسبت به آنچه از او آشکار شود تحمّل‌کننده و پیوسته به او باش.
Be sincere in giving your brother advice whether [he finds it] courteous or offensive.
حکمت ۳۲۸ — موضوع ۸ · The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The CompanionSaying 328 — The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The Companionإخْتَرْمِنْ كُلِّ شَيْء جَديدَهُ، ومِنَ الإخوانِ أقدَمَهَمْ.
از هر چیز نویِ آن را برگزین و از برادران کهنه‌ترینِ آنان را.
Bring yourself to be polite to your brother when he is harsh to you, and to build ties [with him] when he cuts you off, and to be generous [with him] when he is niggardly, and tolerate what he does and keep relations with him.
حکمت ۳۲۹ — موضوع ۸ · The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The CompanionSaying 329 — The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The Companionإجْتَنِبْ مُصاحِبَةَ الكَذَّابِ، فإنِ اضْطُرِرْتَ إلَيهِ فلا تُصَدِّقْهُ، ولا تُعلِمْهُ أنّكَ تُـكَذِّبُهُ، فإنّه يَنْتَقِلُ عَنْ وُدِّكَ ولا يَنْتَقِلُ عَنْ طَبْعِهِ.
از همنشینی با دروغگو بپرهیز و اگر ناگزیر از آن شدی، باورش مکن و مگذارد بداند که تکذیبش می‌کنی؛ که او از دوستیِ تو دگرگون شود ولی از سرشتش دگرگون نشود.
Choose the new of everything but the oldest one from among your brothers.
حکمت ۳۳۰ — موضوع ۸ · The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The CompanionSaying 330 — The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The Companionاُبْذُل لِصَديقِكَ كُلَّ المَودَّةِ، ولا تَبْذُلْ لَهُ كُلَّ الطُّمَأنينةِ وأعْطِهِ مِنْ نَفْسِكَ كُلَّ المُواساةِ، ولا تَقُصَّ إلَيهِ بِكُلِّ أسرارِكَ.
همهٔ محبت را به دوستت ببخشای و همهٔ اطمینان را به او مبخشای و از جان خویش همهٔ مواسات را به او بده و همهٔ رازهایت را به او مگو.
Avoid the company of a liar, but if you are forced to be in his company then do not accept his words as true, and do not let him know that you belie him, for he will readily turn away from your friendship rather than abandoning his habit [of lying].
حکمت ۳۳۱ — موضوع ۸ · The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The CompanionSaying 331 — The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The Companionفَقْدُ الإخوانِ مُوهى الجَلَدِ.
از دست دادنِ برادران، مایهٔ سستیِ پایمردی است.
Spare no effort in showing affection to your friend, but do not put your entire trust in him; give him all your support, but do not disclose all your secrets to him.
حکمت ۳۳۲ — موضوع ۸ · The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The CompanionSaying 332 — The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The Companionلَيْسَ لَكَ بأخ، مَنِاحْتَجْتَ إلى مُداراتِهِ.
آن که تو را به مدارا نیازمند کند، برادرت نیست.
The loss of one’s brothers weakens one’s fortitude.
حکمت ۳۳۳ — موضوع ۸ · The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The CompanionSaying 333 — The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The Companionلَيسَ بِرَفيق مَحمُودِ الطَّريقَةِ مَنْ أحوَجَ صاحِبَهُ إلى مُماراتِهِ.
آن که همنشینش را به ستیزه با خود نیازمند کند، رفیقی نیکوآیین نیست.
He whom you need to indulge is not your [true] brother.
حکمت ۳۳۴ — موضوع ۸ · The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The CompanionSaying 334 — The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The Companionلَيسَ لَكَ بأخ مَنْ أحوَجَكَ إلى حاكِم بينَكَ وبينَهُ.
آن که تو را به داوری میان خود و او نیازمند کند، برادرت نیست.
He who forces his companion to argue with him is not a comrade with praiseworthy traits.
حکمت ۳۳۵ — موضوع ۸ · The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The CompanionSaying 335 — The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The Companionجَمالُ الاُخُوَّةِ إحسانُ العِشْرَةِ، والمُواساةُ معَ العُسْرَةِ.
زیباییِ برادری، نیکو هم‌زیستی و مواسات در تنگدستی است.
He who makes it necessary for you to get a judge to adjudicate between yourself and him is not your brother.
حکمت ۳۳۶ — موضوع ۸ · The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The CompanionSaying 336 — The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The Companionحُسْنُ الإخاءِ يُجْزِلُ الأجرَ ويُجمِلُ الثَّناءَ.
نیکو برادری پاداش را فراوان و ستایش را زیبا کند.
The embellishment of brotherhood is good companionship and [giving] support despite [financial] difficulty.
حکمت ۳۳۷ — موضوع ۸ · The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The CompanionSaying 337 — The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The Companionخَيرُ الإخوانِ أقَلُّهُمْ مُصانَعَةً في النَّصيحَةِ.
بهترینِ برادران آن است که در نصیحت تملّق کمتری کند.
Good brotherhood increases reward and beautifies praise.
حکمت ۳۳۸ — موضوع ۸ · The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The CompanionSaying 338 — The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The Companionخَيرُ الإخوانِ مَنْ لا يُحْوِجُ إخوانَهُ إلى سِواهُ.
بهترینِ برادران آن است که برادرانش را به غیرِ خود نیازمند نکند.
The best of brothers are the least hypocritical in giving good advice.
حکمت ۳۳۹ — موضوع ۸ · The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The CompanionSaying 339 — The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The Companionخَيرُ إخْوانِكَ مَنْ عَنَّفَكَ في طاعَةِ اللّهِ.
بهترینِ برادرانت آن است که تو را در طاعت خدا سخت‌گیری کند.
The best of brothers is the one who makes it unnecessary for his brother to seek from anyone other than him.
حکمت ۳۴۰ — موضوع ۸ · The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The CompanionSaying 340 — The Brother, The Friend, The Associate And The Companionخَيرُ إخوانِكَ مَنْ واساكَ، وخيرٌ مِنْهُ مَنْ كَفاكَ، وإنِاحْتاجَ إلَيكَ أعفاكَ.
بهترینِ برادرانت آن است که با تو مواسات کند و بهتر از او آن است که کفایتت کند و اگر به او نیاز افتاد، تو را معذور دارد.
The best of your brothers is the one who is stern with you regarding obedience to Allah.
