مَنِ اسْتَخَفَّ بِمُوالِيهِ اسْتَثقَلَ وَطْأةَ مُعاديهِ.

حکمت ۳۶۱ تا ۳۸۰Sayings 361 to 380
علَى التَّواخي في اللّهِ تَخْلُصُ المَحَبَّةُ.
به برادری در راه خداست که محبت خالص شود.
One who takes his [relationship with his] allies lightly will find the overrunning of his enemies to be heavy.
عِندَ نُزُولِ الشَّدائدِ يُجَرَّبُ حِفاظُ الإخوانِ.
هنگام فرود سختی‌هاست که پاسداریِ برادران آزموده شود.
It is through brotherhood for the sake of Allah that love becomes sincere.
عِندَ زَوالِ القُدْرَةِ يَتَبَيَّنُ الصَّديقُ مِنَ العَدُوِّ.
هنگام زوال قدرت است که دوست از دشمن بازشناخته شود.
It is in times of tribulation that the protection of brethren is put to test.
عَجِبْتُ لِمَنْ يَرْغَبُ في التَّكثُّرِ مِنَ الأصحابِ كَيفَ لايَصحَبُ العُلَماءَ الألِبَّاءَ الأتقياءَ الَّذينَ يَغنَمُ فَضائِلَهُمْ وتَهْديهِ عُلُومُهُمْ وتُزَّينُهُ صُحبَتُهُمْ.
شگفت از آن که رغبت در فراوانیِ یاران دارد و با عالمان خردمند پرهیزکار همنشینی نمی‌کند؛ همانان که فضیلت‌هایشان را به غنیمت گیرد و دانش‌هایشان هدایتش کند و همنشینی‌شان بیارایدش.
It is when power is lost that friend is distinguished from foe.
في كُلِّ صُحْبَة اخْتيارٌ.
در هر همنشینی گزینشی هست.
I am amazed at the one who seeks more companions why does he not accompany the wise, pious scholars from whose character he can benefit and from whose knowledge he can get guidance and whose company is an embellishment for him!
في الشِّدَّةِ يُخْتَبَرُ الصَّديقُ.
در سختی دوست آزموده شود.
In every companionship there is choice.
في الضّيقِ يَتَبيَّنُ حُسْنُ مُواساةِ الرَّفيقِ.
در تنگنا نیکوییِ مواساتِ رفیق آشکار شود.
In times of difficulty one comes to know who his [true] friend is.
في حُسنِ المُصاحَبَةِ يَرْغَبُ الرِّفاقُ.
در نیکوییِ همنشینی است که رفیقان رغبت کنند.
It is in times of [financial] difficulty that the value of a friend’s generosity becomes apparent.
إيّاكَ أنْ تَغفُلَ عَنْ حقِّ أخيكَ، اتِّكالاً على واجبِ حَقِّكَ عَليهِ، فإنَّ لأخيكَ علَيكَ مِنَ الحقِّ مِثلَ الَّذي لَكَ عَلَيهِ.
زنهار حق برادرت را به اتکای حقِ واجبت بر او فروگذار نکنی که برای برادرت بر تو از حق، همان است که برای تو بر او.
Good companionship is something friends wish for.
إيّاكَ أنْ تُهْمِلَ حقَّ أخيكَ اتِّكالاً عَلى ما بَينَكَ وبَيْنَهُ فَلَيسَ لَكَ بأخ مَنْ أضَعْتَ حَقَّهُ.
زنهار حق برادرت را به اتکای آنچه میان شماست فروگذار نکنی که آن که حقش را ضایع کنی، برادرت نیست.
Be careful not to become negligent of your brother’s right [over you] while counting on your right over him, for indeed your brother has the same right over you that you have over him.
أفْضَلُ العُدَدِ ثِقاتُ الإخوانِ.
بهترینِ توشه‌ها برادرانِ مورد اعتمادند.
Be careful not to ignore the right of your brother while relying on the bond between you and him, for he whose right you overlook is not your brother.
أفضَلُ الْعُدَدِ أخٌ وَفيٌّ وشَقيقٌّ زَكيُّ.
بهترینِ توشه‌ها برادری وفادار و تنی‌ای پاکیزه است.
The best assets are reliable brothers.
أصْدَقُ الإخْوانِ مَوَدَّةً أفْضَلُهُمْ لإخوانِهِ في السَّرّاءِ والضَّرّاءِ مُواساةً.
راست‌ترینِ برادران در دوستی آن است که در خوشی و ناخوشی به مواسات با برادرانش از همه بهتر باشد.
The best of assets are a loyal brother and a righteous sibling.
أبْعدُ النَّاسِ سَفَراً مَنْ كانَ سَفَرُهُ في ابْتِغاءِ أخ صالِح.
دورترینِ مردم در سفر آن است که سفرش در جستجوی برادری شایسته باشد.
The brother whose friendship is strongest is one who is most supportive of his brother [both] in times of ease and difficulty.
إنَّ أخاكَ حقَّاً مَنْ غَفَرَ زلَّتَكَ، وَسَدَّ خَلَّتَكَ وقَبِلَ عُذْرَكَ، وسَتَرَ عَوْرتَكَ، ونَفى وَجَلَكَ، وحَقَّقَ أمَلَكَ.
برادرِ راستینِ تو آن است که لغزشت را ببخشاید و نیازت را برآورد و عذرت را بپذیرد و عورتت را بپوشاند و بیمت را بزداید و امیدت را برآورد.
The one who journeys in search of a righteous brother journeys the farthest.
لا تَصْحَبْ مَنْ فاتَهُ العَقلُ، ولاتَصْطَنِعْ مَنْ خانَهُ الأصلُ، فإنَّ مَنْ لا عَقلَ لَهُ يَضُرُّكَ مِنْ حيثُ يَرى أنَّه يَنْفَعُكَ، وَمَنْ لا أصلَ لَهُ يُسيءُ إلى مَنْ يُحْسِنُ إلَيهِ.
با آن که خِرَدش را از دست داده همنشین مشو و آن را که ریشه‌اش خیانت کرده به خویش مپیوند؛ چرا که بی‌خِرَد از آنجا که گمان کند به تو سود رساند، زیانت رساند و بی‌ریشه به آن که به او نیکی کند، بدی کند.
Your true brother is one who forgives your mistake, fulfils your need, accepts your excuse, hides your [hidden] flaw, removes your apprehension and actualizes your hope.
تَصْحَبْ إلاَّ عاقِلاً تَقِيّاً، ولا تُعاشِرْ إلاّ عالِماً زَكيّاً، ولاتُودِعْ سِرَّكَ إلاّ مُؤمِناً وَفيّاً.
همنشینی مکن مگر با خردمند پرهیزکار و هم‌زیستی مکن مگر با دانشمند پاک‌سرشت و رازت را به جز مؤمنِ باوفا مَسپار.
Do not accompany the one who has lost his mind and do not seek good from one who is betrayed by his roots, for the one who is insane will harm you while he thinks he is helping you and the one who does not have [virtuous] roots will do evil to the one who does good to him.
لا تَصْحَبْ مَنْ يَحفَظُ مَساوِيَكَ، ويَنْسى فَضائلَكَ وَمعالِيَكَ.
با آن که بدی‌هایت را حفظ کند و فضیلت‌ها و بلندی‌هایت را فراموش کند، همنشین مشو.
Do not accompany anyone but the intelligent and pious; and do not associate with anyone but the knowledgeable and righteous; and do not mention your secret to anyone but the trustworthy and loyal.
لا تَحْلُومُصاحَبَةُ غَيْرِ أريب.
همنشینی با ناخِرَد سود نبخشد.
Do not accompany one who recalls your misdeeds and forgets your virtues and merits.
