ما أنْزلَ المَوتَ مَنْزِلَهُ مَنْ عَدَّ غَداً مِنْ أجَلِهِ.
مرگ را در جای خود ننشانده است آن که فردا را از اجل خود شمارَد.
He who counts tomorrow [to be] from his lifetime has not given death its rightful place.
نِعْمَ الدَّواءُ الأجَلُ.
اجل چه نیکو درمانی است.
What an excellent cure death is!
نَفَسُ الْمَرْءِ خُطاهُ إلى أجَلِهِ.
هر نفسِ آدمی، گامی است به سوی اجلش.
Each breath of a person is a step closer to his death.
لا جُنََّةَ أوقيمِنَ الأجلِ.
هیچ سپری بازدارنده‌تر از اجل نیست.
No shield is more protective than the appointed time of death.
لا شَيْءَ أصْدَقُ مِنَ الأجَلِ.
هیچ چیز راست‌تر از اجل نیست.
Nothing is truer than death.
إنَّكُمْ حَصائِدُ الآجالِ وأغْراضُ الحِمامِ.
شما دروکردگانِ اجل‌ها و هدف‌های مرگید.
You are the harvests of the appointed terms and the targets of death.
رَحِمَ اللّهُ امْرَءاً عَلِمَ أنَّ نَفَسَهُ خُطاهُ إلى أجَلِهِ، فبادَرَ عَمَلَهُ، وقَصَّرَ أمَلَهُ.
خدا رحمت کند کسی را که بداند هر نفسش گامی به سوی اجلش است؛ پس عملش را پیش فرستاد و آرزویش را کوتاه کرد.
May the mercy of Allah be on the person who understands that his [every] breath brings him a step closer to his death, so he hastens to [do] good deeds and shortens his hopes.
رَحِمَ اللّهُ امْرَءا ًبادَرَ الأجَلَ، وأكْذَبَ الأمَلَ، وأخلَصَ العَمَلَ.
خدا رحمت کند کسی را که با اجل پیشی گیرد و آرزو را دروغ شمارَد و عمل را خالص کند.
May the mercy of Allah be on the person who anticipates [his] death, belies [his false] aspirations, and makes his actions sincere.
رُبَّ أجَل تَحْتَ أمَل.
بسا اجلی که زیر آرزویی پنهان است.
Sometimes death is [hidden] beneath an aspiration.
مَعَ السَّاعاتِ تَفنَى الآجالُ.
همراه ساعت‌هاست که اجل‌ها فنا شوند.
With the passing of hours, lifetimes perish.
إنَّ عَلَىَّ مِنْ أجَلي جُنَّةً حَصينَةً، فَإذا جاءَ يَومِي انْفَرَجَت عَنّي وَأسْلَمَتْني، فَحينَئذ لا يَطيشُ السَّهْمُ ولا يَبْرَءُ الكَلِمُ.
مرا از اجلم سپری استوار است؛ پس چون روزم دررسد، از من باز شود و مرا تسلیم کند؛ آن‌گاه که تیر خطا نرود و زخم درمان نشود.
Verily there is a shield over me, in the form of my appointed time of death, which protects me; so when my day comes, it relieves itself of me and surrenders me [to death]. At this time the arrow will not miss its target and the wound will not heal.
اَلآخِرةُ فَوزُ السُّعَداءِ.
آخرت، فیروزیِ نیکبختان است.
The Hereafter is the victory of the felicitous.
اِشتِغالُكَ بإصْلاحِ مَعادِكَ يُنْجيكَ مِنْ عَذابِ النَّارِ.
مشغول‌شدنت به اصلاح آخرتت، تو را از عذاب آتش رهایی بخشد.
Occupying yourself with improving your Hereafter will save you from the chastisement of hellfire.
الرَّابِحُ مَنْ باعَ العاجِلَةَ بِالآجِلَةِ.
سودمند آن است که [دنیای] شتابان را به [آخرت] دیرپا بفروشد.
The [true] winner is one who has sold this transitory life for the [eternal] Hereafter.
اَلمالُ وَالْبَنُونَ زينَةُ الحَيوةِ الدُّنيا، والعَمَلُ الصَّالِحُ حَرْثُ الآخِرَةِ.
مال و فرزندان زیور زندگیِ دنیاست و عمل صالح، کشتزار آخرت.
Wealth and children are the adornment of the life of this world whereas good deeds are the tillage of the Hereafter.
أحْوالُ الدُّنيا تَتْبَعُ الإتِّفاقَ وأحْوالُ الآخرةِ تَتْبَعُ الاِسْتِحْقاقَ.
احوال دنیا از روی تصادف است و احوال آخرت از روی استحقاق.
The conditions in this world are based on convention whereas the conditions in the Hereafter are based on merit.
إنّ أمامَكَ عَقَبَةً كَؤُوداً، اَلمُخِفُّ فيها أحْسَنُ حالاً مِنَ المُثْقِلِ، والمُبْطِئُ عَلَيها أقْبَحُ أمْراً مِنَ المُسـْرِعِ، إنّ مَهْبِطَها بِكَ لامُحالَةَ على جَنَّة أوْ نار.
پیش روی تو گردنه‌ای سخت است؛ سبکبار در آن بهتر از گرانبار است و کُندرو در آن بدحال‌تر از شتابان؛ فرود آمدنت از آن، ناگزیر بر بهشت باشد یا بر آتش.
Surely in front of you is a difficult place of ascension in which one whose weight is lighter is in a better position than the one whose weight is heavier, and the one who moves slowly is worse off than the one who moves swiftly. Verily its landing will lead you to either Paradise or hell.
إنَّ الغايَةَ القيامَةُ، وكَفى بِذلِكَ واعِظاً لِـمَنْ عَقَلَ، ومُعْتَبَراً لِمَنْ جَهِلَ، وبَعدَ ذلك ما تَعْلَمُونَ مِنْ هَوْلِ الْمُطَّلَعِ، وَرَوْعاتِ الفَزَعِ، واسْتِكاكِ الأسماعِ، وَاخْتِلافِ الأضلاعِ، وضيقِ الأرماسِ، وَشِدَّةِ الأبلاسِ.
سرانجام کار قیامت است و همین برای خردمند پندی بس و برای نادان عبرتی؛ و پس از آن، آنچه می‌دانید از هولِ پیشگاه و هراس‌ها و کَر شدن گوش‌ها و اضطراب دل‌ها و تنگی گورها و شدت ناتوانی.
Verily the final destination is al-Qiyāmah and this is enough of an admonition for the one who reasons, and [enough of] a warning for the one who is unaware; and after that - what you know of the torment of the Day of Judgment and the frightening terror, and the deafening of the ears, and the turning of the ribs, and the narrowness of the grave, and the intensity of sadness and heavy-heartedness.
إنْ رَغِبْتُم في الفَوزِ وكَرامَةِ الآخِرَةِ فَخُذُوا في الفَناءِ لِلْبَقاءِ.
اگر فیروزی و کرامت آخرت را می‌خواهید، فنا را برای بقا پیش گیرید.
If you desire success and honor in the Hereafter, then take from the perishing [life of this world] for the everlasting [life of the Hereafter].
