لانَجاةَ لِمَنْ لاإيمانَ لَهُ.

برای آن کس که ایمانی ندارد، نجاتی نیست.

There is no salvation for one who has no faith.

لا يَنْجُو مِنَ اللّهِ سُبْحانَهُ مَنْ لا يَنْجُوالنّاسُ مِنْ شَـرِّهِ.

آن کس که مردم از بدی‌اش در امان نباشند، از (عذابِ) خداوند سبحان نجات یابد.

He from whose evil people are not safe, is not saved from [the punishment of] Allah, the Glorified.

ثَلاثٌ فِيهِنَّ النَّجاةُ: لُزُومُ الْحَقِّ، وتَجَنُّبُ الْباطِلِ ورُ كُوبُ الجِدِّ.

در سه چیز، نجات هست: پایبندی به حق، دوری از باطل، و روی‌آوردن به جدّ (کوشش).

There is salvation in three things: espousing truth, shunning falsehood and working hard.

كَيْفَ يَنْجُو مِنَ اللّهِ هارِبُهُ؟!

چگونه آن کس که از خدا فراری است، نجات یابد؟!

How can one who flees from Allah be saved?!

مَنِ اسْتَنْجَدَ ذَليلاًذَلَّ.

هر که از پست‌کار یاری بجوید، خوار شود.

One who seeks help from the lowly is abased.

مَنْ لَمْ يُنْجِدْ لَمْ يُنْجَدْ.

هر که یاری نکند، یاری نشود.

One who does not help [others] is not helped.

لاخَيْـرَ فِي الْمُناجاةِ إلاّ لِرَجُلَيْنِ:عالِم ناطِق، أوْ مُسْتَمِع واع.

در نجوا (رازگویی) جز برای دو تن نیکی نیست: دانشمندی که سخن بگوید، یا شنونده‌ای آگاه.

There is no good in secret conversation except for two people: the articulating scholar or the cautious listener [who can keep secrets].

اَلنَّدَمُ أحَدُ التَوْبَتَيْنِ.

پشیمانی، یکی از دو توبه است.

Remorse is one of the two [forms of] repentance.

اِنْدَمْ عَلى ما أسَأْتَ ولاتَنْدَمْ عَلى مَعْرُوف صَنَعْتَ.

بر آنچه بد کردی پشیمان شو و بر نیکی که کرده‌ای پشیمان نشو.

Be remorseful about the evil that you have done and do not regret the good act that you have performed.

اَلنَّدَمُ اِسْتِغْفارٌ.

پشیمانی، توبه (استغفار) است.

Remorse is [a form of] repentance.

اَلنَّدَمُ عَلَى الْخَطيِئَةِ يَمْحُوها.

پشیمانی بر خطا، آن را پاک کند.

Being remorseful for a misdeed causes it to be wiped off.

اَلنَّدَمُ عَلَى الخَطِيئَةِ اِسْتِغْفارٌ.

پشیمانی بر خطا، توبه (استغفار) است.

اَلنَّدَمُ عَلَى الذَّنْبِ يَمْنَعُ مِنْ مُعاوَدَتِهِ.

پشیمانی بر گناه، از بازگشت به آن بازدارد.

Being remorseful for [committing] a sin prevents one from returning to it.

نَدَمُ الْقَلْبِ يُكَفِّرُ الذَّنْبَ ويُمَحِّصُ الجَرِيرَةَ.

ندامتِ دل، گناه را کفّاره (پاک) و بدی را پاکیزه کند.

Remorsefulness of the heart covers up the sin and purges the wrongdoing.

حکمت ۹۷۱۵ — موضوع ۶۴۰ · The RemorsefulSaying 9715 — The Remorseful

طُوبى لِكُلِّ نادِم عَلى زَلَّتِهِ مُسْتَدْرِك فارِطَ عَثْرَتِهِ.

بخت‌بَرَکِ هر پشیمان‌شده‌ای به لغزشش، جبران‌کنندۀِ لغزشِ پیشینش.

Blessed is every remorseful one who regrets his mistake and makes up for his past error.

مَنْ نَدِمَ فَقَدْ تابَ.

هر که پشیمان شود، توبه کرده است.

One who is remorseful has repented.

حکمت ۹۷۱۷ — موضوع ۶۴۱ · WarningSaying 9717 — Warning

اَلإنْذارُ إعْذارٌ.

هشدار (إنذار)، عذرآوردن (اعذار) است.

Warning is vindication.

حکمت ۹۷۱۸ — موضوع ۶۴۲ · DisputeSaying 9718 — Dispute

لاتُلاحِ الدَّنِيَّ فَيَجْتَرِئَ عَلَيْكَ.

با پست‌کار به بحث و جدل مرو تا بر تو بی‌پروا شود.

Do not argue with a vile person for he will be bold [and disrespectful] with you.

حکمت ۹۷۱۹ — موضوع ۶۴۲ · DisputeSaying 9719 — Dispute

لاتُنازِ عِ السُّفَهاءَ ولاتَسْتَهْتِرْ بِالنِّساءِ فَإنَّ ذلِكَ يُزْري بِالْعُقَلاءِ.

با ابله‌ها نزاع مکن و به زنان شیفته (اهتمامِ زیاده) مکن، که همانا این، خردمیان را خوار کند.

Do not dispute with the fools and do not be infatuated with women, for indeed this degrades the intelligent ones.

مُنازَعةُ السَّفَل تَشينُ السّادَةَ.

نزاع با پست‌مقامان، بزرگان را زشت کند.

Disputing with the ignoble ones disgraces the [status of the] eminent ones.
