حکمت ۹۹۴۱ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 9941 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountإنَّ نَفْسَكَ مَطِيَّتُكَ، إنْ أجْهَدْ تَها قَتَلْتَها، وإنْ رَفَقْتَ بِها أبْقَيْتَها.
همانا جانِ تو مرکبِ توست؛ اگر بر آن سخت گیری، آن را از پای درآوری و اگر با آن مدارا کنی، آن را بر جای داری.
Verily your soul is your riding mount, if you make it carry more than it can bear, you will kill it and if you treat it with kindness, you will save it.
حکمت ۹۹۴۲ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 9942 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountإنَّكَ إنْ أخْلَلْتَها بِشَيْء مِنْ هذا التَّقْسِيمِ فَلا تَقُومُ نَوافِلُ تَكْتَسِبُها بِفَرائِضَ تُضَيِّعُها.
همانا اگر در چیزی از این بخش‌بندی کوتاهی کنی، نافله‌هایی که به دست می‌آوری جایگزینِ واجباتی که تباه ساخته‌ای نخواهند شد.
Verily if you contravene this division [and allotment of specific times for specific deeds] then the supererogatory acts you perform do not take the place of the obligatory that you have neglected.
حکمت ۹۹۴۳ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 9943 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountاَلاِشْتِغالُ بِتَهْذيبِ النَّفْسِ أصْلَحُ.
پرداختن به تهذیب و خودسازیِ نفس، شایسته‌تر است.
Being preoccupied with disciplining the soul is better [for you].
حکمت ۹۹۴۴ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 9944 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountاَلثِّقَةُ بِالنَّفْسِ مِنْ أوْثَقِ فُرَصِ الشَّيْطانِ.
اعتماد به نفس، از استوارترین فرصت‌های شیطان است.
Overconfidence [in oneself] is one of the strongest opportunities for Satan.
حکمت ۹۹۴۵ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 9945 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountاِسْتِدْراكُ فَسادِ النَّفْسِ مِنْ أنْفَعِ التَّحْقِيقِ.
جبران کردنِ تباهیِ نفس، از سودمندترینِ دریافت‌ها و حقایق است.
Redressing the corruption of one’s soul is the most beneficial accomplishment.
حکمت ۹۹۴۶ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 9946 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountإشْتِغالُكَ بِمَعائِبِ نَفْسِكَ يَكْفِيكَ العارُ.
مشغول بودنِ تو به عیب‌های خویشتن، برای بازداشتن از ننگ بسنده است.
Your preoccupation with your own flaws is sufficient to keep [the] shame [of searching for others faults] away from you.
حکمت ۹۹۴۷ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 9947 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountإنْ لَمْ تَرْدَعْ نَفْسَكَ عَنْ كَثِير مِمّا تُحِبُّ مَخافَةَ مَكْرُوهِهِ سَمَتْ بِكَ الأهـْواءُ إلى كَثِير مِنَ الضَّرَرِ.
اگر نفسِ خویش را از بسیاری از آنچه دوست داری به بیمِ پیامدِ ناخوشایندش بازنداری، هوا و هوس‌ها تو را به زیان‌های بسیار خواهند کشاند.
If you do not restrain your soul from many of the things that you love out of fear of its displeasure, then vain desires will drive you towards a lot of harm.
حکمت ۹۹۴۸ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 9948 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountإنَّكَ إنْ مَلَّكْتَ نَفْسَكَ قِيادَكَ، أفْسَدْتَ مَعادَكَ، وأوْرَدَتْكَ بَلاءً لا يَنْـتَهي، وشَقاءً لايَنْقَضي.
همانا اگر مهارِ خویش را به دستِ نفست دهی، آخرتت را تباه سازی و تو را به بلایی بی‌پایان و تیره روزیِ ناگسستنی درافکند.
Verily if you give your [carnal] soul control over yourself, you will corrupt your Hereafter and put you into unending affliction and incessant wretchedness.
حکمت ۹۹۴۹ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 9949 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountإنَّكُمْ إنْ أطَعْتُمْ أنْفُسَكُمْ نَزَعَتْ بِكُمْ إلى شَرِّ غايَة.
اگر از نفس‌های خود فرمان برید، شما را به سوی بدترین سرانجام می‌کشانند.
Verily if you obey your [carnal] souls, they will lead you towards the worst end.
حکمت ۹۹۵۰ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 9950 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountإنَّما أنْتَ كَالطّاعِنِ نَفْسَهُ لِيَقْتُلَ رِدْفَهُ.
همانا تو مانند کسی هستی که به خویشتن خنجر می‌زند تا کسی را که پشت سرش سوار است بکشد.
Indeed you are just like the one who stabs himself in order to kill the one who is sitting behind him.
حکمت ۹۹۵۱ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 9951 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountإذا أخَذْتَ نَفْسَكَ بِطاعَةِ اللّهِ أكْرَمْتَها، وإنِ ابْتَذَلْتَها (بَذَلْتَها) في مَعاصيهِ أهَنْتـَها.
هرگاه نفست را به اطاعتِ خدا واداری، گرامی‌اش داشته‌ای؛ و اگر آن را در معصیت‌هایش خوار گردانی، پستش کرده‌ای.
When you make your soul obey Allah you have honoured it, and if you allow it to disobey Him you have humiliated it.
حکمت ۹۹۵۲ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 9952 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountإذا صَعُبَتْ عَلَيْكَ نَفْسُكَ فَاصْعُبْ لَها تَذِلُّ لَكَ وخادِعْ نَفْسَكَ عَنْ نَفْسِكَ تَنْقَدْ لَكَ.
هرگاه نفست بر تو سرکشی کرد، تو نیز بر آن سرسختی نشان ده تا رامِ تو شود، و نفست را در آنچه می‌خواهد بفریب تا در فرمانِ تو درآید.
When your soul becomes obstinate with you then be obstinate with it and it will be humble to you, and deceive your soul with regards to yourself, it will yield to you.
حکمت ۹۹۵۳ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 9953 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountإذا رَغِبْتَ في صَلاحِ نَفْسِكَ فَعَلَيْكَ بِالاِقْتِصادِ، والقُنُوعِ، وَالتَّقَلُّلِ.
اگر به صلاح و درستیِ نفست رغبت داری، بر تو باد میانه‌روی، قناعت و کم‌خواهی.
When you desire the uprightness of your soul then you should adopt moderation, contentment and the reduction of [your] wants.
حکمت ۹۹۵۴ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 9954 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountبِالْمُجاهَدَةِ صَلاحُ النَّفْسِ.
صلاح و درستیِ نفس، در مجاهده و پیکار با آن است.
Uprightness of the soul is [attained] through struggle.
حکمت ۹۹۵۵ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 9955 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountتَوَلَّوْا مِنْ أنْفُسِكُمْ تَأْدِيبَها واعْدِلُوا بِها عَنْ ضَرارَةِِ عاداتِها.
ادب کردنِ نفس‌هایتان را خود بر عهده گیرید و آن‌ها را از عادت‌های زیانبار بازگردانید.
Take it upon yourselves to discipline your souls and turn them away from their harmful habits.
حکمت ۹۹۵۶ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 9956 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountتَقاضَ نَفْسَكَ بِما يَجِبُ عَلَيْها تَأمَنْ تَقاضِيَ غَيْرِكَ لَكَ،وَاسْتَقْصِعَلَيْها تَغْنَ عَنِ اسْتِقْصاءِ غَيْرِكَ.
از نفست آنچه را بر آن واجب است بازخواست کن تا از بازخواستِ دیگران آسوده مانی، و بر آن سخت‌گیر باش تا از خرده‌گیریِ دیگران بی‌نیاز گردی.
Demand from your soul [the performance of] that which it obligatory upon it and you will be safe from the demands of others, scrutinize it and you will have no need for the scrutiny of others.
حکمت ۹۹۵۷ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 9957 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountوقالَ في حَقِّ مَنْ ذَمَّهُ: تَغْلِبُهُ نَفْسُهُ عَلى ما يَظُنُّ، ولا يَغْلِبُها عَلى ما يَسْتَيْقِنُ، قَدْ جَعَلَ هَواهُ أمِيرَهُ، وأطاعَهُ فِي سائِرِ أُمُورِهِ.
و دربارهٔ کسی که او را نکوهش می‌کرد فرمود: نفسش بر آنچه گمان دارد بر او چیره می‌شود، ولی او بر آنچه یقین دارد بر نفس چیره نمی‌گردد؛ هوسِ خویش را فرمانروایش ساخته و در همهٔ کارها از آن پیروی می‌کند.
He (a) said about the one whom he was censuring: His [lower] self dominates him by means of that which he assumes, and he cannot overpower it with what he is certain of. He has made his vain desire his master and he obeys it in all his affairs.
حکمت ۹۹۵۸ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 9958 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountجَرِّبْ نَفْسَكَ في طاعَةِ اللّهِ بِالصَّبْرِ عَلى أداءِ الفَرائِضِ والدُّؤُبِ فِي إقامَةِ النَّوافِلِ والوَظائِفِ.
نفست را در اطاعتِ خدا با شکیبایی بر ادای واجبات و مداومت در انجام مستحبات و وظایف بیازمای.
Try yourself in the obedience of Allah through patience in performing obligatory acts and perseverance in performing supererogatory acts and duties.
حکمت ۹۹۵۹ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 9959 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountحاسِبُوا أنْفُسَكُمْ تَأْمَنُوا مِنَ اللّهِ الرَّهَبَ، وتُدْرِكُوا عِنْدَهُ الرَّغَبَ.
به حسابِ نفس‌هایتان برسید تا از هراسِ الهی ایمن مانید و به آنچه نزدِ اوست رغبت یابید و دست یابید.
Hold yourselves to account [for your deeds] and you will be safe from the fear of Allah and will attain what you desire [from that which is] with Him.
حکمت ۹۹۶۰ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 9960 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountحاسِبْ نَفْسَكَ لِنَفْسِكَ فَإنَّ غَيْرَها مِنَ الأنْفُسِ لَها حَسيبٌ غَيْرُكَ.
نفست را برای خودت حسابرسی کن، زیرا دیگران خود حسابرسی جز تو دارند.
Hold yourself to account for your [own] soul for indeed other souls have someone else who will hold them to account.
