حکمت ۹۹۶۱ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 9961 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountحاسِبُوا أنْفُسَكُمْ قَبْلَ أنْ تُحاسَبُوا ووازِنُوها قَبْلَ أنْ تُوازَنُوا.
پیش از آنکه به حسابتان برسند، به حسابِ خویش برسید، و پیش از آنکه سنجیده شوید، خود را بسنجید.
Hold your souls to account before they are held to account and weigh them before they are weighed.
حکمت ۹۹۶۲ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 9962 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountحاسِبُوا أنْفُسَكُمْ بِأعْمالِها، وطالِبُوها بِأداءِ الْمَفْرُوضِ عَلَيْها، وَالأخْذِ مِنْ فَنائِها لِبَقائِها، وتَزَوَّدُوا وتَأهَّبُوا قَبْلَ أنْ تُبْعَثُوا.
به حسابِ اعمالِ نفس‌هایتان برسید و ادای فرایض را از آن بخواهید و از این سرای فانی برای سرای باقی برگیرید، و توشه برگیرید و آماده شوید پیش از آنکه برانگیخته شوید.
Hold your souls to account for their deeds and seek from them the fulfilment of what is obligatory on them and their taking from the evanescent for the eternal; and gather provisions and make preparations before you are resurrected [on the Day of Reckoning].
حکمت ۹۹۶۳ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 9963 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountحَلُّوا أنْفُسَكُمْ بِالْعَفافِ، وتَجَنَّبُوا التَّبْذِيرَ وَالإسْرافَ.
نفس‌های خود را به پاکدامنی و پارسایی بیارایید و از ریخت‌وپاش و اسراف دوری گزینید.
Beautify your souls with chastity and keep away from wastefulness and extravagance.
حکمت ۹۹۶۴ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 9964 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountخَيْرُ النُّفُوسِ أزْكاها.
بهترینِ جان‌ها، پاکیزه‌ترینِ آن‌هاست.
The best souls are the purest among them.
حکمت ۹۹۶۵ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 9965 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountخُذْ مِنْ نَفْسِكَ لِنَفْسِكَ، وَتَزَوَّدْ مِنْ يَوْمِكَ لِغَدِكَ، واغْتَنِمْ غَفْوَ (عَفْوَ) الزَّمانِ، وانْتَهِزْ فُرْصَةَ الإمْكانِ.
از خود برای خودت برگیر، و از امروزت برای فردایت توشه بردار، و آرامشِ روزگار را غنیمت شمار و از فرصتِ توانایی بهره ببر.
Take [good deeds] from yourself for your soul [in the Hereafter], gather provisions today for your tomorrow, benefit from the slumber (or respite) of time and seize the opportunity [to do good while you can].
حکمت ۹۹۶۶ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 9966 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountخادِعْ نَفْسَكَ عَنِ الْعِبادَةِ، وارْفُقْ بِها (وَلاتَقْهَرْها)، وَخُذْ عَفْوَها، وَنِشاطَها، إلاّ ماكانَ مَكْتُوباً مِنَ الْفَرِيضَةِ، فَإنَّهُ لابـُدَّ مِنْ أدائِها.
نفست را به عبادت بفریب و با آن مدارا کن و بر آن سخت مگیر، و در هنگام آسودگی و نشاطش از آن کار بکش، مگر در واجباتی که مقدر شده؛ چراکه ادای آن‌ها ناگزیر است.
Deceive your heart into worshipping and be gentle with it (or do not compel it), and engage it [in worship] when it is free and lively, except for what has been prescribed as obligatory, for indeed that must be fulfilled [in any case].
حکمت ۹۹۶۷ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 9967 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountخُذُوا مِنْ أجْسادِكُمْ تَجُودُوا بِها عَلى أنْفُسِكُمْ واسْعَوْا في فِكاكِ رِقابِكُمْ قَبْلَ أنْ تُغْلَقَ رَهائِنُها.
از تن‌های خود بکاهید و بر جان‌های خود ببخشایید، و پیش از آنکه راه‌های رهایی بسته شود در آزادیِ خویش بکوشید.
Take from your bodies and bestow them generously to your souls, and strive to free yourselves before your ransoms are blocked.
حکمت ۹۹۶۸ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 9968 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountخالِفْ نَفْسَكَ تَسْتَقِمْ وخالِطِ الْعُلَماءَ تَعْلَمْ.
با نفست مخالفت کن تا استوار شوی، و با دانایان همنشینی کن تا دانا گردی.
Oppose your [carnal] soul and you will become upright, mingle with scholars and you will learn.
حکمت ۹۹۶۹ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 9969 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountخِدْمَةُ النَّفْسِ صيانَتُها عَنِ اللَّذّاتِ، والمُقْتَنَياتِ، ورِياضَتُها بِالعُلُومِ والحِكَمِ، واجْتِهادُها (إجْهادُها) بِالعِباداتِ والطّاعاتِ، وَفِي ذلِكَ نَجاةُ النَّفْسِ.
خدمت به نفس، نگاهداشتنِ آن از لذت‌ها و اندوخته‌ها، ورزیدگی‌اش با دانش و حکمت‌ها، و کوشاندنش در عبادات و طاعات است؛ و نجاتِ نفس در همین است.
Serving the soul means protecting it from [unlawful] pleasures and acquisitions, training it with knowledge and wisdom and making it strive in performing acts of worship and obedience, for in this lies the salvation for the soul.
حکمت ۹۹۷۰ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 9970 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountدَواءُ النَّفْسِ الصَّوْمُ عَنِ الهَوى والْحِمْيَةُ عَنْ لَذّاتِ الدُّنيا.
داروی جان، روزه داشتن از هوا و هوس، و پرهیز از لذت‌های دنیاست.
The cure of the soul is abstaining from vain desires and abstinence from the pleasures of this world.
حکمت ۹۹۷۱ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 9971 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountذِرْوَةُ الغاياتِ لا يَنالُها إلاّ ذَوُو التَّهْذِيبِ والمُجاهِداتِ.
به اوجِ هدف‌ها جز اهلِ خودسازی و مجاهدت دست نمی‌یابند.
The highest peaks [of success] are not attained but by those who espouse discipline and hard work.
حکمت ۹۹۷۲ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 9972 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountذِلَّ في نَفْسِكَ وعِزَّ في دِينِكَ وصُنْ آخِرَتَكَ وابْذُلْ دُنْياكَ.
در پیشگاهِ خود فروتن باش و در دینت سرافراز، آخرتت را پاس دار و دنیایت را نثار کن.
Have humility in your soul and honour in your faith; preserve your Hereafter and be open-handed with your worldly possessions.
حکمت ۹۹۷۳ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 9973 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountذَلِّلُوا أنْفُسَكُمْ بِتَرْكِ العاداتِ، وقُودُوها إلى فِعْلِ الطّاعاتِ، وَحَمِّلُوها أعْباءَ المَغارِمِ، وحَلُّوها بِفِعْلِ المَكارِمِ، وصُونُوها عَنْ دَنَسِ الْمَ آثِمِ.
نفس‌هایتان را با ترکِ عادت‌ها رام کنید، و آن‌ها را به سوی طاعات برانید، و بارِ پرداختِ خسارت‌ها و بدهی‌ها را بر آن‌ها نهید، و به انجامِ مکارم آراسته‌شان سازید، و از آلودگیِ گناهان مصونشان دارید.
Humble your souls by abandoning [bad] habits, lead them towards performing acts of obedience [and worship], make them bear the burdens of [others’] liabilities, beautify them through noble deeds, and protect them from the filth of sins.
حکمت ۹۹۷۴ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 9974 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountذَلِّلْ نَفْسَكَ بِالطّاعَةِ، وحَلِِّّها بِالقَناعَةِ، وَخَفِّضْ فِي الطَّلَبِ، وَأجْمِلْ فِي الْمُكْتَسَبِ.
نفست را با طاعت رام ساز و آن را با قناعت بیارای، در طلب سبک‌بار باش و در کسب‌وکار راهِ نکو در پیش گیر.
Humble your soul through obedience and adorn it with contentment; reduce your wants and be moderate in your earning.
حکمت ۹۹۷۵ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 9975 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountرَحِمَ اللّهُ امْرَءاً اَلْجَمَ نَفْسَهُ عَنْ مَعاصِي اللّهِ بِلِجامِها، وقادَها إلى طاعَةِ اللّهِ بِزِمامِها.
خداوند رحمت کند کسی را که نفسش را با لگامش از معصیت‌های خدا بازداشت و آن را با مهارش به سوی طاعتِ خدا راند.
May Allah have mercy on the person who holds back the reins of his soul from acts of disobedience to Allah and steers it towards the obedience of Allah by its reins.
حکمت ۹۹۷۶ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 9976 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountرَحِمَ اللّهُ امْرَءاً قَمَعَ نَوازِ عَ نَفْسِهِ إلَى الهَوى فَصانَها، وقادَها إلى طاعَةِ اللّهِ بِعِنانِها.
خداوند رحمت کند کسی را که تمایلاتِ نفسِ خویش به سوی هوا و هوس را سرکوب کرد و آن را پاس داشت، و با عنانش به سوی اطاعتِ خدا پیش راند.
May Allah have mercy on the person who subdues the inclinations of his soul towards vain desires thereby protecting it, and steers it towards the obedience of Allah by its reins.
حکمت ۹۹۷۷ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 9977 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountرَدْعُ النَّفْسِ عَنِ الهَوى اَلْجِهادُ الأكْبَرِ.
بازداشتنِ نفس از هوا و هوس، جهادِ اکبر است.
Deterring the soul from vain desire is the greater Jihad.
حکمت ۹۹۷۸ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 9978 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountرَدْعُ النَّفْسِ عَنِ الهَوى هُوَ الْجِهادُ النَّافِعُ.
بازداشتنِ نفس از هوس، همان جهادِ سودبخش است.
Deterring the soul from vain desire is the Jihad that is beneficial.
حکمت ۹۹۷۹ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 9979 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountرَدْعُ النَّفْسِ عَنْ زَخارِفِ الدُّنْيا ثَمَرَةُ الْعَقْلِ.
بازداشتنِ نفس از زرق‌وبرقِ دنیا، میوهٔ خرد است.
Deterring the soul from the vanities of this world is the fruit of reason.
حکمت ۹۹۸۰ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 9980 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountرَدْعُ النَّفْسِ عَنْ تَسْوِيلِ الْهَوى ثَمَرَةُ النُّبْلِ.
بازداشتنِ نفس از فریبگریِ هوا و هوس، میوهٔ شرافت و نجابت است.
Deterring the soul from the temptation of vain desire is the fruit of nobility.
