مَنْ أُعطِيَ الدُّعاءَ لَمْ يُحْرَمِ الإجابَةَ.
هر که دعا به او داده شود، از اجابت محروم نشود.
One who is given the [opportunity of] supplication will not be deprived of the response.

مَنْ دَعَا اللّهَ أجابَهُ.
هر که خدا را بخواند، اجابتش کند.
Whoever calls upon [and supplicates to] Allah, He answers him.
مَا المُبْتَلَى الَّذي قَدِ اشْتَدَّ بِهِ البَلاءُ أحْوَجَ إلَى الدُّعاءِ مِنَ المُعافَى الَّذي لا يَأمَنُ البَلاءَ.
مبتلایی که بلا بر او سخت شده به دعا نیازمندتر نیست از آن که عافیت دارد و از بلا ایمن نیست.
The one who is afflicted by severe tribulation is no more in need of supplication than the one who is doing well but is not secure from tribulations.
نِعمَ السِّلاحُ الدُّعاءُ.
چه نیکو سلاحی است دعا!
What a good weapon supplication is!
لا تَسْتَبْطِئْ إجابَةَ دُعائِكَ وَقَدْسَدَدْتَ طريقَهُ بِالذُّنُوبِ.
اجابتِ دعایت را دیر مشمار در حالی که راهش را با گناهان بسته‌ای.
Do not reckon that your supplication is being answered [too] slowly while you have obstructed its path with [your] sins.
لا يُقَنَّطِنَّكَ تَأخِيرُ إجابَةِ الدُّعاءِ فَإنَّ العَطِيَّةَ على قَدْرِ النِّيَّةِ، ورُبَّما تَأخَّرَتِ الإجابَةُ لِيَكُونَ ذلِكَ أعْظَمَ لأِجْرِ السائِلِ، وَأجْزَلَ لِعَطاءِ النَّائِلِ.
تأخیرِ اجابتِ دعا نومیدت نکند؛ چرا که عطیه به اندازهٔ نیّت است و بسا اجابت به تأخیر افتد تا پاداشِ سائل بزرگ‌تر و عطای بخشنده فراوان‌تر باشد.
Never get disheartened by a delayed answer to [your] supplication, for indeed that which is granted is commensurate with the intention, and sometimes the answer might be delayed so that it may result in a greater reward for the seeker and a more bountiful grant for the recipient.
مَنْ سَألَ اللّهَ أعْطاهُ.
هر که از خدا خواهد، ببخشدش.
Whoever asks Allah, He grants to him.
ما مِنْ شَيْء أحَبُّ إلَى اللّهِ سُبْحانَهُ مِنْ أنْ يُسْألْ.
هیچ چیز نزد خدای سبحان محبوب‌تر نیست از آن که از او خواسته شود.
There is nothing more beloved to Allah, the Glorified, than being beseeched.
لا تَسْألُوا إلاّ اللّهَ سُبْحانَهُ، فَإنَّهُ إنْ أعْطاكُمْ أكْرَمَكُمْ، وإنْ مَنَعَكُمْ خارَ(حاز) لَكُمْ.
جز از خدای سبحان مخواهید؛ چرا که اگر ببخشدش گرامیتان دارد و اگر باز دارد، خیرتان را خواسته [یا گرد آورده] است.
Do not ask [from anyone] other than Allah, the Glorified, for indeed if He grants [your wishes to] you, He honours you [at the same time] and if He withholds from you, He does it for your own welfare [and benefit].
أللّهُمَّ احْقِنْ دِمائَنا ودِمائَهُمْ، وأصْلِحْ ذاتَ بَيْنِنا وبَيْنَهُمْ، وأنْقِذْهُم(وَ أهدِهِمْ) مِن ضَلالَتِهِمْ، حتّى يَعْرِفَ الحقَّ مَنْ جَهِلَهُ، ويَرْعَوِىَ عَنِ الغَيِّ والغَدْرِ مَنْ لَهِجَ بِهِ.
خدایا! خون‌های ما و خون‌هایشان را نگه دار و میان ما و ایشان را نیکو ساز و از گمراهی‌شان برهان [یا هدایتشان کن] تا آن که حق را نشناخته‌اند بشناسند و آن که شیفتهٔ گمراهی و غدر است باز ایستد.
Allah, spare our lives and their lives, restore the ties between us and them, rescue them [and guide them] from their misguidance, until those who are ignorant of the truth may recognize it and those are persistent in sinning and disloyalty [and in their enmity towards us] may desist from it.[^1]
مَنْ قَرَعَ بابَ اللّهِ فُتِحَ لَهُ.
هر که درِ خدا را بکوبد، گشوده شود.
Whoever knocks on the door of Allah, it is opened for him.
الدَّاعي بِلا عَمل كَالقَوْسِ بِلا وَتَر. [^1]: This was the supplication taught by Amīr al-Mu’minīn (‘a) to his men during the Battle of Siffīn.
خوانندهٔ بی‌عمل چون کمانِ بی‌زِه است.
The one who supplicates without action is like a bow without a bowstring.
وَُقَِرَ سَمْعٌ لَمْ تَسْمَعِ الدَّاعِيَةُ.
گوشی که ندای خواننده را نشنود، وقار نهاده شده است.
Deaf is the ear that does not hear the call [of guidance].
ما اخْتَلَفَتْ دَعْوَتانِ إلاّ كانَتْ إحْديهُما ضَلالَةً.
دو خوانش با هم اختلاف نکنند مگر آن که یکی‌شان گمراهی باشد.
Two calls never differ but that one of them leads to misguidance.
ضَلالُ الدَّليلِ هَلاكُ المُسْتَدِلِّ.
گمراهیِ راهنما هلاکِ راه‌جو است.
Deviation of the guide is the destruction of the seeker of guidance.
كَمْ دَنِف نَجا وصَحيح هَوى.
چه بسیار بیماری که نجات یافت و تندرستی که فرو افتاد!
How many [times has] a seriously ill person been saved while a healthy person died!
مَنْ قَرُبَ مِنَ الدَّنيَّةِ أُتُّهِمَ.
هر که به پستی نزدیک شود، متهم شود.
One who comes near the despicable is accused.
مُبايَنَةُ الدَّنايا تَكْبِتُ العَدُوَّ.
جداشدن از پستی‌ها دشمن را فرو کوبَد.
Disassociating oneself from loathsome actions and traits subdues the enemy.
الدُّنيا لا تَصْفُو لِشارِب، ولا تَفي لِصاحِب.
دنیا برای نوشنده‌ای صاف نشود و برای همدمی وفا نکند.
This world is neither clean for any drinker [to drink from] nor is it loyal to any owner.
الدُّنيا مَلِيئَةٌ بِالمَصائِبِ طارِقَةٌ بِالفَجايِـعِ والنَّوائِبِ.
دنیا پُر از مصیبت‌هاست و کوبنده با فاجعه‌ها و حوادث.
This world is filled with tribulations [and] stricken with tragedies and calamities.
