الدُّنيا مُنْتَقِلَةٌ فانِيَةٌ، إنْ بَقِيَتْ لَكَ لَمْ تَبْقَ لَها.
دنیا رفتنی و فانی است؛ اگر برای تو بماند، تو برای آن نمانی.
This world is fleeting and perishing; [even] if it remains for you, you will not remain for it.

الدُّنيا أصْغَرُ وأحْقَرُ وأنْزَرُ مِنْ أنْ تُطاعَ فيهَا الأحْقادُ.
دنیا کوچک‌تر و خوارتر و ناچیزتر است از آن که در آن کینه‌ها فرمان برند.
This world is smaller, more lowly and more insignificant than for one to keep grudges in [and because of] it.
الدُّنيا سِجْنُ المُؤمِنِ، والمَوتُ تُحفَتُهُ، والجَنَّةُ مَأواهُ.
دنیا زندانِ مؤمن است و مرگ تحفه‌اش و بهشت مأوایش.
This world is a prison for the believer, death is his gift and Paradise is his [permanent] abode.
الدُّنيا جَنَّةُ الكافِرِ، والمَوْتُ مُشْخِصُهُ، والنّارُ مَثْواهُ.
دنیا بهشتِ کافر است و مرگ کوچاننده‌اش و آتش جایگاهش.
This world is a Paradise for the disbeliever, death is his dispatcher and hell is his [permanent] dwelling.
الدُّنيا صَفْقَةُ مَغْبُون والإنْسانُ مَغْبُونٌ بِها.
دنیا معاملهٔ زیان‌دیده است و انسان به آن زیان‌دیده است.
This world is a deal of the [one who has been] defrauded and human being is defrauded by it.
الدُّنيا إنِ انْجَلَتْ اِنْجَلَتْ، وإذا جَلَتْ اِرْتَحَلَتْ.
دنیا اگر روشن شود، روشن گردد [و بگذرد] و اگر جلوه کند، کوچ کند.
If this world unfolds, it opens up and when it disperses, it departs.
الدُّنيا دُوَلٌ فَأجْمِلْ في طَلَبِها، واصْطَبِرْ حتّى تَأتيَكَ دُولَتُكَ.
دنیا دولت‌هاست؛ پس در طلبش نیکو باش و شکیبایی کن تا دولتش به تو رسد.
This world takes turns, so be moderate in seeking it, and be patient until your turn comes to you.
الدُّنيا عَرَضٌ حاضِرٌ،يَأكُلُ مِنْهُ البَرُّ والفاجِرُ، والآخِرَةُ دارُ حَقّ يَحْكُمُ فيها مَلِكٌ قادِرٌ.
دنیا بهره‌ای حاضر است که نیک و بد از آن خورند و آخرت سرایِ حق است که در آن پادشاهی توانا داوری کند.
This world is a present offering, [both] the virtuous and the vicious partake of it, but the Hereafter is the Abode of Truth wherein a [wise and] powerful king rules.
الدُّنيا ظِلُّ الغَمامِ، وحُلُمُ المَنامِ.
دنیا سایهٔ ابر و رؤیای خواب است.
This world is [like] the shadow of clouds and the dream that is seen while asleep.
الرُّكُونُ إلَى الدُّنيا مَعَ مايُعايَنُ مِنْ غَيْرِها جَهْلٌ.
تکیه به دنیا با آنچه از غیرش دیده شود، نادانی است.
Reliance on this world, despite what is seen of its vicissitudes, is ignorance.
الدُّنيا مَليئَةٌ بِالمَصائِبِ، طارِقَةٌ بِالفَجايِـعِ والنَّوائِبِ.
دنیا پُر از مصیبت‌هاست و کوبنده با فاجعه‌ها و حوادث.
This world is full of misfortunes. It afflicts with disasters and adversities.
أحْوالُ الدُّنيا تَتْبَعُ الاتِّفاقَ، وأحْوالُ الآخِرَةِ تَتْبَعُ الاسْتِحْقاقَ.
حال‌های دنیا پیروِ تصادف است و حال‌های آخرت پیروِ استحقاق.
The conditions of this world are based on convention whereas the conditions of the Hereafter are based on merit.
الدُّنيا مَصائِبُ مُفْجِعَةٌ، ومَنايا مُوجِعَةٌ، وعِبْرٌ مُقَطِّعَةٌ (غِيَرٌ مُفَظِّعَةٌ).
دنیا مصیبت‌های فاجعه‌بار و مرگ‌های دردناک و عبرت‌های گسستننده است [یا دگرگونی‌های هولناک].
This world is [made up of] agonizing hardships, painful deaths and sharp lessons (or drastic changes).
الدُّنيا شَرَكُ النُّفُوسِ، وقَرارَةُ كُلِّ ضُرّ وبُؤْس.
دنیا دامِ جان‌هاست و قرارگاهِ هر زیان و بیچارگی.
This world is a trap for the souls and settling place of every detriment and misery.
الدُّنيا غَرُورٌ حائِلٌ، وسَرابٌ زائِلٌ، وسِنادٌ مائِلٌ.
دنیا فریبِ دگرگون و سرابی زایل و ستونی کج است.
This world is a hindering deception, a vanishing mirage and a bent pillar.
أوقاتُ الدُّنيا وإنْ طالَتْ قَصِيرَةٌ، والمُتْعَةُ (والمُنْعَةُ) بِها وإنْ كَثُرَتْ يَسيرَةٌ.
وقت‌های دنیا هرچند دراز، کوتاه است و تمتع به آن [یا نعمتش] هرچند بسیار، اندک است.
The times of this world, even if they prolong, are short; and its enjoyments, even if they are many, are few [when compared to the Hereafter].
مَنْ رَغِبَ فيها أتْعَبَتْهُ وأشْقَتهُ.
هر که بدان رغبت کند، خسته‌اش کند و بدبختش سازد.
One who desires it (this world), it troubles him and makes him wretched.
الرَّابِحُ مَنْ باعَ العاجِلَةَ بِالآجِلَةِ.
سودمند آن است که شتابنده را به جاودانه فروشد.
The winner is one who sells his world for his Hereafter.
إجْعَلْ كُلَّ هَمِّكَ وسَعْيِكَ لِلْخَلاصِ مِنْ مَحَلِّ الشَّقاءِ والعِقابِ، وَالنَّجاةِ مِنْ مَقامِ البَلاءِ والعَذابِ.
همهٔ همّ و کوششت را برای رهایی از جایگاهِ بدبختی و کیفر و نجات از مقامِ بلا و عذاب قرار ده.
Put all your effort and endeavour in gaining salvation from the place of wretchedness and punishment and deliverance from the place of tribulation and chastisement.
اِرْفِضُوا هذِهِ الدُّنيا ذَميمةً، فَقَدْ رَفَضَتْ مَنْ كانَ أشْعَفَ بِها مِنْكُمْ.
این دنیا را نکوهیده رها کنید؛ چرا که آن که شیفته‌تر از شما بود را رها کرده است.
Reject this world as a dispraised thing, for it has rejected one who loves it more passionately than you.
