اَلدُّنْيا ضُحَكَةُ مُسْتَعْبِر(مُغْتَرّ).
دنیا خنده‌بخشِ عبرت‌گیرنده [یا فریفته] است.
This world is a laugh for the one whose tears flow [in sadness] (or for the one who is deluded by it).

الدُّنْيا دارُ المِحَنِ.
دنیا خانهٔ محنت‌هاست.
This world is the abode of tribulations.
الدُّنْيا دارُ الأشْقياءِ.
دنیا خانهٔ بدبختان است.
This world is the abode of the wretched.
الدُّنْيا مَعْبَـرَةُ الآخِرَةِ.
دنیا گذرگاهِ آخرت است.
This world is the corridor to the Hereafter.
الدُّنْيا مُطَلَّقَةُ الأكْياسِ.
دنیا طلاق‌دادهٔ زیرکان است.
This world is the divorcée of the sagacious.
العاجِلَةُ مُنْيَةُ الأرْجاسِ.
شتابنده آرزویِ پلیدان است.
The transient world is the desire of the filthy.
الفَرَحُ بِالدُّنْيا حُمْقٌ.
شادی به دنیا حماقت است.
Being pleased with this world is foolishness.
الإغتِرارُ بِالعاجِلَةِ خُرْقٌ.
فریفتگی به شتابنده تندی است.
Being dazzled by this world [and being proud because of it] is stupidity.
الدُّنْيا تَغُرُّ، وتَضُرُّ، وتَمُرُّ.
دنیا فریبد و زیان رسانَد و بگذرد.
This world deceives, harms and passes by.
الدُّنْيا مَحَلُّ الآفاتِ.
دنیا جایگاهِ آفت‌هاست.
This world is the place of catastrophes.
اَلمُواصِلُ لِلدُّنْيا مَقْطُوعٌ.
پیوندکننده با دنیا بریده است.
The one who is attached to this world is cut off [from Allah].
اَلدُّنْيا مُنْيَةُ الأشْقياءِ.
دنیا آرزویِ بدبختان است.
This world is the aspiration of the wretched.
اَلعاجِلَةُ غُرُورُ الحَمْقى.
شتابنده فریبِ احمقان است.
The transient world is the delusion [or the deluder] of the unintelligent.
اَلدُّنْيا مَصْرَعُ العُقُولِ.
دنیا جایگاهِ کشتارِ خِرَدهاست.
This world is the place where the intellects fall.
اَلدُّنْيا مَحَلُّ الغِيَرِ.
دنیا جایگاهِ دگرگونی‌هاست.
This world is the place of vicissitudes.
اَلدُّنْيا دارُ المِحْنَةِ.
دنیا خانهٔ محنت است.
This world is the abode of tribulation.
اَلدُّنْيا غَنيمَةُ الحَمْقى.
دنیا غنیمتِ احمقان است.
This world is the prize of the unintelligent.
اَلاشْتِغالُ بِالفائِتِ يُضَيِّعُ الوَقْتَ.
پرداختن به از دست رفته وقت را تباه کند.
Being occupied with the transient is a waste of time.
الرَّغْبَةُ فِي الدُّنيا تُوجِبُ المَقْتَ.
رغبت در دنیا خشم آرَد.
Longing for this world brings about hatred.
اَلدُّنْيا كَيَوْم مَضى، وشَهْر انْقَضى.
دنیا چون روزی است که گذشت و ماهی که سپری شد.
This world is like the day that has passed and the month that has elapsed.
