إنَّ رَأيَكَ لا يَتَّسِعُ لِكُلِّ شَيْء، فَفَرِّغْهُ لِلْمُهِمِّ.
رای تو هر چیزی را فرا نگیرد؛ پس آن را برای مهم‌ترین بپرداز.
Indeed your opinion cannot encompass everything, so leave it for the important [issues].

اَلرَّأيُ بِتَحصينِ الأسرارِ.
رای به پاسداریِ رازهاست.
The [right] opinion is [acquired] by protecting secrets.
بِإصابَة (بِأصالةِ) الرَّأيِ يَقْوَى الحَزْمُ.
به درستیِ [یا اصالتِ] رای است که تدبیر نیرومند شود.
Through correct opinion (or prudence), ones judiciousness is strengthened.
خَيْرُ الآراءِ أبْعَدُها عَنِ الهَوى، وأقْرَبُها مِنَ السَّدادِ.
بهترینِ رای‌ها دورترینِ آنان از هوی و نزدیک‌ترینِ آنان به صواب است.
The best of opinions is the furthest of them from vain desire and the closest of them to pertinence.
خَوافِي الآراءِ تَكْشِفُهَا المُشاوَرَةُ.
نهفتگی‌های رای‌ها را مشورت آشکار کند.
Hidden opinions are revealed through consultation.
رَأيُ الشَّيْخِ أحَبُّ إلَيَّ مِنْ جَلَدِ الغُلامِ.
رایِ پیر نزد من محبوب‌تر است از نیرومندیِ جوان.
The opinion of an elderly person is more beloved to me than the fortitude [and bravery] of a youth.
رَأيُ الرَّجُلِ مِيزانُ عَقْلِهِ.
رایِ مرد ترازویِ خِرَد اوست.
A person’s opinion is the gauge of his intelligence.
رَأيُ العاقِلِ يُنْجي.
رایِ خردمند نجات بخشد.
The opinion of an intelligent person saves.
رَأيُ الجاهِلِ يُردي.
رایِ نادان هلاک کند.
The opinion of an ignorant person destroys.
رَأيُ الرَّجُلِ على قَدْرِ تَجْرِبَتِهِ.
رایِ مرد به اندازهٔ تجربهٔ اوست.
The opinion of a person is in accordance with his experience.
زَلَّةُ الرَّأيِ تَأتي عَلَى المُلْكِ وتُؤْذِنُ بِالهُلْكِ.
لغزشِ رای بر سلطنت درآید و خبر از هلاکت دهد.
Erroneous opinion annihilates the kingdom and heralds destruction.
شَرُّ الآراءِ ما خالَفَ الشَّريعَةَ.
بدترینِ رای‌ها آن است که شریعت را مخالفت کند.
The most evil of opinions is that which goes against the laws of Islam.
صَلاحُ الرَّأيِ بِنُصْحِ المُسْتَشيرِ.
صلاحِ رای به خیرخواهیِ مشورت‌دهنده است.
The validity of an opinion is [measured] by the sincerity of the adviser.
صَوابُ الرَّأيِ يُؤمِنُ الزَّلَلَ.
صوابِ رای از لغزش ایمنی دهد.
Correct opinion saves [one] from errors.
صَوابُ الرَّأيِ بِالدُّوَلِ ويَذْهَبُ بِذِهابِها.
صوابِ رای با دولت‌هاست و با رفتنِ آنان رود.
Correct opinion [and decision] comes with [the coming of] power and it vanishes with its disappearance.
صَوابُ الرَّأيِ بِإجالَةِ الأفكارِ.
صوابِ رای به گرداندنِ اندیشه‌هاست.
Correct opinion is [derived] through careful consideration.
ضَلَّةُ الرَّأيِ تُفسِدُ المَقاصِدَ.
گم‌شدگیِ رای مقصدها را تباه کند.
Misguided opinion corrupts the goals.
عَلى قَدْرِ الرَّأيِ تَكُونُ العَزيمَةُ.
به اندازهٔ رای عزم باشد.
Determination [and resolve] is proportionate to the strength of one’s opinion.
قَدْ يَزِلُّ الرَّأيُ الفَذُّ.
بسا که رایِ تنها بلغزد.
Indeed the lone opinion [without any consultation] may be erroneous.
قَدْ خاطَرَ مَنِ اسْتَغْنى بِرَأيِهِ.
بسا که آن که به رای خود بی‌نیاز شد، به خطر افتاد.
Indeed one who thinks his opinion is sufficient [and does not seek advice] has taken a [huge] risk.
