آفَةُ العِبادَةِ الرِّياءُ.
آفتِ عبادت ریاست.
The bane of worship is showing off.
يَسيرُ الرِّياءِ شِرْكٌ.
ریای اندک شرک است.
The smallest amount of showing off is polytheism.
لِسانُ المُرائي جَميلٌ، وفي قَلْبِهِ الدَّاءُ الدَّخيلُ.
زبانِ ریاکار زیباست و در دلش دردِ نهفته است.
The words of the one who shows off are beautiful, but in his heart there is an internal disease.
رُبَّ رَباح (أرباح تَؤُلُ) يَؤُلُ إلى خُسْران.
بسا سودی [یا سودهایی که] به زیان انجامد.
Many a profit turns back into loss.
الرّابِحُ مَنْ باعَ الدُّنيا بِالآخِرَةِ، واسْتَبْدَلَ بِالآجِلَةِ عَنِ العاجِلَةِ.
سودمند آن است که دنیا را به آخرت فروشد و جاودانه را به جای شتابنده گیرد.
The gainer is one who has sold this world for the Hereafter and has exchanged the transient for the eternal.
اِجْعَلُوا كُلَّ رَجائِكُمْ لِلّهِ سُبْحانَهُ، ولا تَرْجُوا أحَداً سِواهُ فَإنَّهُ ما رَجا أحدٌ غَيْرَ اللّهِ تعالى إلاّ خابَ.
همهٔ امیدتان را برای خدای سبحان قرار دهید و جز او کسی را امید مدارید؛ چرا که هیچ‌کس جز خدای تعالی را امید نداشت مگر آن که ناامید شد.
Keep all your hope for Allah, the Glorified, and do not have hope [in] anyone other than Him, for indeed no one has hoped in other than Allah, the Exalted, but that he has been disappointed.
أعْظَمُ البَلاءِ اِنْقِطاعُ الرَّجاءِ.
بزرگ‌ترینِ بلا بریدنِ امید است.
The greatest affliction is the severance of hope.
الرَّجاءُ لِرَحْمَةِ اللّهِ أنْجَحُ.
امید به رحمتِ خدا رسیاتر است.
Hope in the mercy of Allah brings more success.
إنَّكُمْ إنْ رَجَوْتُمْ اللّهَ بَلَغْتُمْ آمالَكُمْ، وإنْ رَجَوْتُمْ غَيرَ اللّهِ خابَتْ أمانيُّكم وآمالُكُمْ.
اگر خدا را امید دارید، به آرزوهایتان رسیدید و اگر غیرِ خدا را امید دارید، آرزوها و آمالتان ناامید شود.
Verily, if you have hope in Allah you will attain your hopes, but if you have hope in other than Allah then your hopes and aspirations will be frustrated.
رُبَّ رَجاء يُؤَدّي إلى حِرْمان.
بسا امیدی که به محرومیت انجامد.
Many a hope leads to deprivation.
رُبَّ رَجاء خائِب لأِْمَل كاذِب.
بسا امیدِ ناکامی برای آرزویی دروغ.
Many a frustrated hope is brought about by a false aspiration.
كُنْ لِما لاتَرْجُو أقْرَبُ مِنْكَ لِما تَرْجُو.
به آنچه امید نداری نزدیک‌تر باش از آنچه امید داری.
Be closer to that which you do not hope for than [you are to] that which you hope for.
لِكُلِّ غَيْبَة إيابٌ.
هر غایبی را بازگشتی است.
For every absence, there is a return.
لَرُبَّما قَرُبَ البَعيدُ وبَعُدَ القَريبُ.
بسا که دور نزدیک شود و نزدیک دور.
At times the distant may come close and the close may become distant.
مَنْ رَجاكَ فَلا تُخَيِّبْ أمَلَهُ.
هر که امیدت دارد، امیدش را ناامید مکن.
When one has hope in you, [then] do not disappoint his hope.
مَنْ لَمْ تَعْرِفِ الكَرَمَ مِنْ طَبْعِهِ فَلا تَرْجُهُ.
هر که کرامت را از طبعش نشناختی، امیدش مدار.
When one is not known to have a generous nature, [then] do not have hope in him.
مَنْ ذَا الَّذي يَرْجُو فَضْلَكَ إذا قَطَعْتَ ذَوي رَحِمِكَ.
کیست که فضلِ تو را امید دارد اگر خویشاوندانت را بریده‌ای؟
Who would have hope in your kindness when you have cut off ties with your near relatives?!
مَنْ جَعَلَ اللّهَ سُبْحانَهُ مَوْئِلَ رَجائِهِ كَفاهُ أمْرَ دينِهِ ودُنياهُ.
هر که خدای سبحان را پناهگاهِ امیدش سازد، کارِ دین و دنیایش را کفایت کند.
Whoever makes Allah, the Glorified, the refuge of his hopes, He will suffice him in his religious and worldly affairs.
مَنْ هانَتْ عَلَيهِ نَفْسُهُ فَلا تَرْجُ خَيْرَهُ.
هر که جانِ خود را خوار شمارد، خیرش را امید مدار.
When one takes himself to be lowly, [then] do not expect [or hope] for any good from him.
