مَنْ كَفَّ شَرَّهُ فَارْجُ خَيْرَهُ.
هر که شرّش را باز داشت، خیرش را امید دار.
One who does no evil to others, [then] expect good from him.

لا تَرْجُ إلاّ رَبَّكَ.
جز پروردگارت را امید مدار.
Do not have hope [or expectation] except from your Lord.
لاتَرْجُ ما تُعَنَّفُ بِرَجائِكَ.
آنچه به امیدش سرزنش شوی امید مدار.
Do not hope in that which will cause you to receive rebuke for your hope.
لاتُخاطِرْ بِشَيْء رَجاءَ أكْثَرَ مِنْهُ.
چیزی را به امیدِ بیشتر از آن به خطر میانداز.
Do not risk anything with the hope of getting more than it.
لاتَرْجُوَنَّ فَضْلَ مَنَّان، ولا تَأتَمِنِ الأحْمَقَ والخَوَّانَ.
فضلِ منت‌نهنده را امید مدار و احمق و بسیارخیانت‌کار را امین مشمار.
Never have hope in the favour of one who makes you feel obliged, and do not rely upon the fool and the traitor.
يا أباذَرّ إنَّكَ (إنْ) غُضِبْتَ لِلّهِ فَارْجُ مَنْ غُضِبْتَ لَهُ، إنَّ القَوْمَ خافُوكَ على دُنْياهُمْ وخِفْتَهُم على دينِكَ،فَاتْرُكْ في أيْديهِمْ ما خافُوكَ عَلَيْهِ، واهْرُبْ مِنْهُمْ بِما خِفْتَهُمْ عَلَيْهِ، فَما أحْوَجَهُمْ إلى ما مَنَعْتَهُمْ، وما أغْناكَ عَمَّا مَنَعُوكَ، وَلَوْ أنَّ السَّمواتِ والأرضَ كانَتا على عَبْد رَتْقاً ثُمَّ اتَّقَى اللّهَ لَجَعلَ لَهُ مِنْهُما مَخْرَجاً، فلا يُؤْنِسَنَّكَ إلاَّ الحَقُّ، ولا يُوحِشَنَّكَ إلاَّ الباطِلُ، فَلَو قَبِلْتَ دُنياهُمْ لأَحَبُّوكَ، ولَوْ قَرَضْتَ مِنْها لأَمِنُوكَ.
ای اباذر! اگر برای خدا خشمگین شدی، آن را که برایش خشمگین شده‌ای امید دار. آن قوم بر دنیایشان از تو ترسیدند و تو بر دینت از آنان ترسیدی؛ پس آنچه را بر آن از تو ترسیدند در دست‌هایشان واگذار و با آنچه بر آن از آنان ترسیدی از آنان بگریز. پس چه نیازمندند به آنچه از آنان بازداشتی و چه بی‌نیازی از آنچه از تو بازداشتند! و اگر آسمان‌ها و زمین بر بنده‌ای بسته بود، سپس از خدا پروا کرد، خدا برایش از آن دو راهی بگشاید. پس جز حق اُنست ندهد و جز باطل وحشتت نیندازد؛ و اگر دنیایشان را می‌پذیرفتی، دوستت می‌داشتند و اگر از آن می‌گرفتی، ایمنت می‌داشتند.
Aba Dharr! Indeed you got angry for the sake of Allah so have hope in the One whom you got angry for. Indeed the people feared you in the matter of their world while you feared them for your faith. Then leave to them that for which they are afraid of you and get away from them with that which you feared them for. How needy they are for that which you dissuade them from and how needless you are of that which they deny you. Even if the skies and the earth were closed to an individual and [then] he feared Allah, Allah would most certainly open a way for him in them. So let nothing give you comfort but the truth and let nothing distress you except falsehood. If you would have accepted their world [and its attractions] they would have loved you, and if you had shared in it they would have given you asylum.
بِبَذْلِ الرَّحْمَةِ تُسْتَنْزَلُ الرَّحْمَةُ.
به بخشیدنِ رحمت، رحمت فرود آید.
By showing compassion, [divine] mercy descends.
رَحْمَةُ الضُّعَفاءِ تَسْتَنْزِلُ الرَّحْمَةَ.
رحمت بر ناتوانان رحمت را فرود آوَرَد.
Being compassionate to the weak brings down [divine] mercy.
رَحْمَةُ مَنْ لا يَرْحَمُ تَمْنَعُ الرَّحْمَةَ، واسْتِبْقاءُ مَنْ لا يُبْقي يُهْلِكُ الاُمَّةَ.
رحمت بر آن که رحم نکند رحمت را باز دارد و نگه‌داشتنِ آن که نگه ندارد امت را هلاک کند.
Showing compassion to one who does not show compassion [to others] prevents [divine] mercy, and sparing one who does not spare others destroys the nation.
عَجِبْتُ لِمَنْ يَرْجُو رَحْمَةَ مَنْ فَوْقَهُ كَيْفَ لايَرحَمُ مَنْ دُونَهُ.
در شگفتم از آن که رحمتِ بالادستش را امید دارد، چگونه زیردستش را رحم نکند!
I am amazed at the one who hopes for the mercy of one who is above him, how can he not show compassion to the one who is below him?!
أشْعِر قَلْبَكَ الرَّحْمَةَ لِجَميعِ النَّاسِ والإحْسانَ إلَيْهِمْ تُنِلْهُمْ حَيْفاً وَلاتَكُنْ عَلَيْهِمْ سَيْفاً.
رحمت بر همهٔ مردم و نیکی به آنان را شعارِ دلت ساز تا مبادا بر آنان ستم روی و بر آنان شمشیر مباش.
Make your heart feel compassion for all people and [show] kindness towards them, [and] do not oppress them or terrorize them.
أَولَى النَّاسِ بِالرَّحْمَةِ المُحْتاجِ إلَيْها.
سزاوارترینِ مردم به رحمت آن است که به آن نیازمند باشد.
The most deserving of [showing] mercy among the people is the one who is most in need of it [himself].
أبْلَغُ ما تَسْتَدِرُّ بِهِ الرَّحمَةُ أنْ تُضْمَرَ لِجَميعِ النَّاسِ الرَّحْمَةُ.
رساترینِ چیز برای جوشاندنِ رحمت آن است که برای همهٔ مردم رحمت در دل نهانی.
The best thing that draws forth mercy is having compassion for all people [in your heart].
إذا عَجَزَ عَنِ الضُّعَفاءِ نَيْلُكَ فَلْتَسَعْهُمْ رَحْمَتُكَ.
اگر بخششت به ناتوانان نرسد، رحمتت باید فراخشان گیرد.
When you are incapable of helping the weak [and needy] then let your compassion encompass them.
كما تَرْحَمُ تُرْحَمُ.
چنان که رحم کنی، رحم بینند.
Just as you show mercy, mercy will be shown to you.
مَنْ لَمْ يَرْحَمْ لَمْ يُرْحَمْ.
هر که رحم نکند، رحمش نکنند.
One who shows no mercy will be shown no mercy.
مَنْ لَمْ يَرْحَمِ النَّاسَ مَنَعَهُ اللّهُ رَحْمَتَهُ.
هر که بر مردم رحم نکند، خدا رحمتش را از او باز دارد.
One who shows no mercy to the people, Allah will withhold His mercy from him.
مَنْ لَمْ تَسْكُنِ الرَّحْمَةُ قَلْبَهُ قَلَّ لِقاؤُها لَهُ عِنْدَ حاجَتِهِ.
هر که رحمت در دلش ساکن نشود، هنگام نیازش دیدارش با آن کم شود.
One in whose heart there exists no mercy, meets less of it (mercy) when he needs it.
مَنْ تَرَحَّمَ رُحِمَ.
هر که رحم کند، رحمش کنند.
One who shows mercy is shown mercy.
مِنَ الكِرامِ تَكُونُ الرَّحْمَةُ.
از کریمان باشد رحمت.
It is by the honourable that mercy is shown.
