مَنْ رَغِبَ فِي السَّلامَةِ ألْزَمَ نَفْسَهُ الاِسْتِقامَةَ.
هر که به سلامت رغبت کند، استقامت را بر خود لازم دارد.
One who wishes for security keeps himself steadfast on the straight path.

مَنْ أحَبَّ السَّلامَةَ فَلْيُؤثِرِ الفَقْرَ، وَمَنْ أحَبَّ الرَّاحَةَ فَلْيُؤْثِرِ الزُّهْدَ فِي ِالدُّنيا.
هر که سلامت دوست دارد، باید فقر را برگزیند و هر که آسایش دوست دارد، باید بی‌رغبتی به دنیا را برگزیند.
One who loves security must prefer poverty [over wealth] and one who loves comfort must prefer abstinence from pleasures in this world.
مَنْ كانَ فيه ثَلاثٌ سَلِمَتْ لَهُ الدُّنيا وَالآخِرَةُ: يَأمُرُ بِالمَعْرُوفِ وَيَأْتَمِرُ بِهِ، وَ يَنْهى عَنِ المُنْكَرِ وَيَنْتَهي عَنْهُ وَيُحافِظُ عَلى حُدُودِ اللّهِ جَلَّ وَعَلا.
هر که در او سه چیز باشد، دنیا و آخرتش سلامت ماند: امر به معروف کند و خود بدان فرمان برد و نهی از منکر کند و خود از آن باز ایستد و حدودِ خدای جلّ و علا را پاس دارد.
One who has three [qualities] in him, will remain safe both in this world and the next: He enjoins good and follows it himself, He forbids evil and keeps away from it himself, and he preserves the boundaries [and ordinances] of Allah, the Sublime and the Exalted.
لا وِقايَةَ أمْنَعُ مِنَ السَّلامَةِ.
هیچ پاسداری بازدارنده‌تر از سلامت نیست.
There is no preservation more averting [of harm] than security [that is granted by Allah].
لالِباسَ أجْمَلُ مِنَ السَّلامَةِ.
هیچ جامه‌ای زیباتر از سلامت نیست.
There is no attire more appealing than security [and well-being].
رُبَّ سالِم بَعْدَ النَّدامَةِ.
بسا سلامت‌یافته‌ای پس از پشیمانی.
Many a person remains safe after regret.
كُلُّ مُسْتَسْلِم مُوَقًّي.
هر تسلیم‌شده‌ای پاس‌داشته است.
Everyone who surrenders [to Allah] is protected.
مَنِ اسْتَسْلَمَ سَلِمَ.
هر که تسلیم شود، سلامت ماند.
One who surrenders [to Allah] remains safe.
مَنِ اسْتَسْلَمَ إلَى اللّهِ اِسْتَظْهَرَ.
هر که برای خدا تسلیم شود، پشت‌گرمی یابد.
One who surrenders himself to Allah is supported [by Him].
مَنْ سَلَّمَ أمْرَهُ إلَى اللّهِ اِسْتَظْهَرَ.
هر که کارش را به خدا سپارد، پشت‌گرمی یابد.
One who submits his affair to Allah is supported [by Him].
اَلمُسْتَسْلِمُ مُوَقًّي.
تسلیم‌شده پاس‌داشته است.
The one who surrenders [to Allah] is protected.
اَلسُّلُوُّ حاصِدُ الشَّوْقِ.
فراموشی دروگرِ شوق است.
Forgetfulness is the reaper of longing [and desire].
مَنْ سَلا عَنِ المَسْلُوبِ كَأنْ لَمْ يُسْلَبْ.
هر که از ربوده‌شده دل بکند، گویا نربوده‌اندش.
One who forgets about what has been robbed from him, it is as if he has not been robbed.
وَ عَزّى ـ عَليه السّلامُ ـ رَجُلاً ماتَ لَهُ وَلَدٌ وَ رُزِقَ لَهُ وَلَدٌ فقالَ: عَظَّمَ اللّهُ أجْرَكَ فيما أبادَ، وَبارَكَ لَكَ فيما أفادَ.
مردی را که فرزندی‌اش مرده و فرزندی‌اش زاده شده بود تسلیت گفت و فرمود: خدا پاداشت را در آنچه نابود کرد بزرگ دارد و آنچه به تو داد برکتت دهد.
He (‘a) consoled a man whose son passed away and [at the same time] was blessed with the birth of [another] son saying: May Allah make your reward great [for your patience] in that which He took away, and may His blessings be with you in that which He has bestowed [upon you].
نِعْمَ الدَّلالَةُ حُسْنُ السَّمْتِ.
چه نیکو راهنمایی است خوش‌سیما بودن!
How good a guidance having a good mien is!
جَعَلَ اللّهُ سُبْحانَهُ لَكُمْ أسْماعاً لِتَعِيَ ماعَناها، وَ أبْصاراً لِتَجْلُوَ مِنْ عَشاها.
خدای سبحان برایتان گوش‌ها نهاد تا آنچه را شنیدید دریابید و چشم‌ها تا از تاریکی‌شان روشن شوید.
Allah, the Glorified, has granted you with hearing so that it may heed [and comprehend] that which is concerns it and with sight so that what is dark for it may be brought to light [and seen clearly].
رَحِمَ اللّهُ عَبْداً سَمِعَ حُكْماً فَوَعى، وَ دُعِيَ إلى رَشاد فَدَنى، وَ أخَذَ بِحُجْزَةِ هاد فَنَجا.
خدا رحمت کند بنده‌ای را که حکمی شنید و دریافت و به هدایت خوانده شد و نزدیک شد و به دامانِ راهنمایی گرفت و نجات یافت.
May Allah have mercy on the servant who hears a ruling so he heeds it, is invited to the right path so he approaches it, and holds on to the guide so he is saved.
لا يُؤْتَي العِلْمُ اِلاّمِنْ سُوءِ فَهْمِ السّامِعِ.
دانش جز از بدفهمیِ شنونده به دست نیاید.
Knowledge is not ruined except by the miscomprehension of the listener.
اِسْمَعْ تَعْلَمْ، وَ اصْمُتْ تَسْلَمْ.
بشنو تا بدانی و خاموش باش تا سلامت مانی.
Listen and you will learn; remain silent and you will be safe.
مَنْ أحْسَنَ الاِسْتِماعَ تَعَجَّلَ الاِنْتِفاعَ.
هر که نیکو گوش فرا دهد، بهره‌مندی‌اش شتاب گیرد.
One who listens well benefits quickly.
