لَنْ يَضِلَّ المَرْءُ حتّى يَغْلِبَ شَكُّهُ يَقينَهُ.
مرد گمراه نشود تا آن که شکش بر یقینش چیره شود.
A person will never go astray until his doubt overcomes his certainty.

مَنْ يَتَرَدَّدْ يَزْدَدْ شَكّاً.
هر که سرگردان شود، شکّش فزون شود.
One who falters increases his doubt.
مَنْ كَثُرَ شَكُّهُُ فَسَدَ دينُهُ.
هر که شکش فزون شود، دینش فاسد شود.
One whose doubt increases, his religion gets corrupted.
مَنْ كَثُرَتْ رِيبَتُهُ، كَثُرَتْ غيبَتُهُ.
هر که تردیدش فزون شود، غیبتش فزون شود.
One whose suspicion increase, his backbiting [also] increases.
مَا ارْتابَ مُخْلِصٌ، وَلاشَكَّ مُوقِنٌ.
نه مخلصی به تردید افتد و نه یقین‌داری به شک.
The sincere one is not suspicious and the one who is certain does not doubt.
ما آمَنَ بِاللّهِ مَنْ سَكَنَ الشَّكُّ قَلْبَهُ.
به خدا ایمان نیاورده آن که شک در دلش خانه کند.
He in whose heart doubt has settled does not believe in Allah.
مُجانَبَةُ الرَّيْبِ مِنْ أحْسَنِ الفُتُوَّةِ.
کناره‌گیری از تردید از نیکوترینِ جوانمردی است.
Keeping away from suspicion is from the best magnanimity.
مَنْ أخْيَبُ مِمَّنْ تَعَدّى اليَقينَ إلَى الشَّكِّ والحَيْرَةِ.
محروم‌تر از آن کیست که از یقین به شک و سرگردانی درگذرد؟
Who can be more of a failure than the one who crosses [over] from certainty towards doubt and perplexity?
يَسيرُ الشَّكِّ يُفْسِدُ اليَقينَ.
اندکِ شک یقین را فاسد کند.
The smallest doubt can corrupt certitude.
لا أجْبَنَ مِنْ مُريب.
بزدل‌تر از تردیددارنده نیست.
Nobody more timid than the suspicious one.
الرِّيْبَةُ تُوجِبُ الظِّنَةَ.
تردید گمان آرَد.
Suspicion leads to mistrust.
إذا ظَهَرَتِ الرِّيْبَةُ سائَتِ الظُّنُونُ.
چون تردید آشکار شود، گمان‌ها بد شود.
When suspicion appears, thoughts [about others] become negative.
دَعْ ما يُريبُكَ إلى ما لا يُريبُكَ.
آن را که تو را به تردید اندازد واگذار به آنچه تو را به تردید نیندازد.
Abandon that which causes you to doubt for that which does not cause you to doubt.
لِيَصْدُقْ تَحَرّيكَ فِي الشُّبَهاتِ فَإنَّ مَنْ وَقَعَ فيها اِرْتَـبَكَ.
جستجوگری‌ات در شبهات باید راست باشد؛ چرا که هر که در آن افتد، در آن بپیچد.
Let your inquiry into doubtful matters be conclusive, for indeed the one who falls into them becomes confounded.
لادينَ لِمُرْتاب، وَلا مُرُوَّةَ لِمُغْتاب.
تردیددارنده را دینی نیست و غیبت‌کننده را مردانگی.
The sceptic has no religion and the backbiter has no magnanimity.
لايُلْفَى المُريبُ صَحيحاً.
تردیددارنده هرگز تندرست نیابند.
The suspicious one is never found in a sound state.
أذَلُّ النّاسِ المُرْتابُ.
خوارترینِ مردم تردیددارنده است.
The most abased of people is the sceptic.
اَلمُريبُ أبَداً عَليلٌ.
تردیددارنده همیشه بیمار است.
The suspicious person is always sick.
اَلمُرْتابُ لادينَ لَهُ.
تردیددارنده را دینی نیست.
The sceptic has no religion.
اَلشَّاكُّ لايَقينَ لَهُ. [^1]: Or: Doing something that makes others suspicious...
شک‌کننده را یقینی نیست.
The doubting one has no certitude.
