مَنْ رَكِبَ العَجَلَ رَكِبَتْهُ المَلامَةُ.
هر که شتاب پیشه کرد، سرزنش بر او سوار شد.
One who acts hastily is bestridden by blame.
لاإصابَةَ لِعَجُول.
برای شتاب‌زده رسیدنی نیست.
There is no achievement for the hasty.
أشَدُّ النّاسِ نَدامَةً، وأكْثَرُهُمْ مَلامَةً، العَجِلُ النَّزِقُ الَّذي لايُدْرِكُهُ عَقْلُهُ، إلاّ بَعْدَ فَوْتِ أمْرِهِ.
سخت‌ترین پشیمان و بیشترین سرزنش از آنِ آدمیِ شتاب‌زده و تندخو است که خردش بر او چیره نشود مگر پس از آنکه کارش از دست رود.
Of all people, the one with the greatest regret and the most reproof is the hasty, rash person who is not subdued by his intellect until after his affair is lost.
ذَرِ العَجَلَ، فَإنَّ العَجِلَ فِي الأُمُورِ لايُدْرِكُ مَطْلَبَهُ وَلايُحْمَدُ أمْرُهُ.
شتاب را واگذار، که همانا شتاب‌زده در کارها نه به خواسته‌اش رسد و نه کارش ستوده شود.
Leave haste aside, for indeed the one who is hasty in matters neither attains what he seeks nor is his affair praised.
أخْطَأَ مُسْتَعْجِلٌ أوْ كادَ.
شتاب‌زده لغزید یا نزدیک به لغزش بود.
The hasty one errs or is close to [erring].
كُلُّ مَعْدُود مُنْتَقِصٌ.
هر چیزِ شمارش‌پذیر کاستی‌پذیر است.
Every denumerable thing can diminish.
خَيْـرُ الاِسْتِعْدادِ ما أُصْلِحَ بِهِ المَعادُ.
بهترین آمادگی آن است که بدان آخرت اصلاح شود.
The best preparation is that by which one’s Hereafter is improved.
تَخَفَّفُوا فَإنَّ الغايَةَ أمامَكُمْ، والسّاعَةَ مِنْ وَرائِكُمْ تَحْدُوكُمْ.
بار سبک کنید، که همانا هدف پیش روست و زمان از پشت سر شما را می‌راند.
Lighten your burden, for indeed the goal is in front of you and time is behind you, driving you forward.
تَخَفَّفُوا تَلْحَقُوا، فَإنَّما يُنْتَظَرُ بِأوَّلِكُمْ آخِرُكُمْ.
بار سبک کنید تا دررسید، که همانا آخرِ شما را جز اولِ شما (که پیش رفته‌اند) منتظر نیستند.
Lighten your burden so as to catch up [with those who are ahead you], for indeed the last among you are only being awaited by the first among you [who have preceded them].
تَيَسَّرْ لِسَفَرِكَ، وشِمْ بَرْقَ النَّجاةِ، وارْحَلْ مَطاياَ التَّشْمير.
برای سفرت آماده شو، برقِ رستگاری را ببوی و بر مرکب‌هایِ همت سفر کن.
Prepare for your journey, keep your gaze on the flash of salvation and travel on swift [and girded] mounts [of good deeds].
ثُوبُوا (تُوبُوا) مِنَ الغَفْلَةِ، وتَنَبَّهُوا مِنَ الرَّقْدَةِ، وتَأهَّبُوا لِلنُّقْلَةِ، وَتَزَوَّدُوا لِلرِّحْلَةِ.
از غفلت بازگردید، از خواب بیدار شوید، برای کوچ آماده گردید و برای سفر زادتوشه برگیرید.
Return from negligence, awake from slumber, prepare yourself for the move and gather provisions for the journey.
مَنِ اسْتَعَدَّ لِسَفَرِهِ قَرَّ عَيْناً بِحَضَرِهِ.
هر که برای سفرش آماده شد، به رسیدنش چشمش روشن گردد.
One who has prepared for his journey is delighted upon his arrival.
اِرْتَدْ لِنَفْسِكَ قَبْلَ يَوْمِ نُزُولِكَ ووَطِّ المَنْزِلَ قَبْلَ حُلُولِكَ.
پیش از روزِ فرودآمدنت برای خویش جایگاه برگزین و پیش از رسیدنت سرایت را بیارا.
Select your abode for yourself before the day of your landing and prepare your dwelling before your arrival.
اَلعَدْلُ أفْضَلُ السِّياسَتَيْنِ.
عدل به‌تر از دو سیاست است.
Justice is the better of the two policies.
اَلعَدْلُ رَأسُ الإيمانِ، وجَمّاعُ الإحْسانِ.
عدل بنیادِ ایمان و گردآورندهٔ نیکوکاری است.
Justice is the cornerstone of faith and the accumulator of benevolence.
اَلْعَدْلُ قِوامُ الرَّعِيَّةِ، وجَمالُ الوُلاةِ.
عدل استوانهٔ رعیت و زیباییِ زمامداران است.
Justice is the mainstay of the populace and the splendour of the rulers.
اَلعَدْلُ أنَّكَ إذا ظُلِمْتَ أنْصَفْتَ، والفَضْلُ أنَّكَ إذا قَدَرْتَ عَفَوْتَ.
عدل آن است که چون ستم دیدی انصاف ورزی، و فضل آن است که چون قدرت یافتی ببخشایی.
Justice means that you act equitably when you are oppressed, and kindness means that when you gain authority, you forgive.
اِعْدِلْ تَحْكُمْ.
عدل کن تا حکومت کنی.
Be just and you will rule.
اِعْدِلْ تَمْلِكَ.
عدل کن تا مالک شوی.
Be just and you will rule.
