اَلعِفافُ يَصُونُ النَّفْسَ، ويُنَزِّهُها عَنِ الدَّنايا.

پاک‌دامنی جان را پاسبان و از زشتی‌ها پاکش دارد.

Chastity preserves the soul and purifies it from vile demerits.

اَلعِفَّةُ تُضَعِّفُ الشَّهْوَةَ.

پاک‌دامنی هوای نفس را کاست.

Chastity weakens lust.

اَلعِفافُ زَهادَةٌ.

پاک‌دامنی زهد است.

Chastity is renunciation [of worldly pleasures].

اَلكَفُّ عَمّا في أيْدِي النّاسِ عِفَّةٌ، وكِبَرُ هِمَّة.

بازداشتنِ خود از آنچه در دستِ مردم است، پاک‌دامنی و بزرگ‌همتی است.

Restraining oneself from [coveting] that which people possess is chastity and high-mindedness.

(أهْلُ) اَلعَفافُِ أشْرَفُ الأشْرافِ.

اهلِ پاک‌دامنی از بزرگواران ارجمندترند.

بِالعَفافِ تَزْكُوالأعْمالُ.

به پاک‌دامنی کارها پاک شوند.

Through chastity actions become purified.

تاجُ الرَّجُلِ عَفافُهُ وزَيْنُهُ إنْصافُهُ.

تاجِ مرد پاک‌دامنی‌اش و زیورش انصاف است.

The crown of a man is his chastity and his adornment is his equity.

ثَمَرَةُ العِفَّةِ الصِّيانَةُ.

میوهٔ پاک‌دامنی پاسبانی است.

The fruit of chastity is preservation [of oneself from chastisement].

ثَمَرَةُ العِفَّةِ القَناعَةُ.

میوهٔ پاک‌دامنی قناعت است.

The fruit of chastity is contentment.

حُسْنُ العَفافِ مِنْ شِيَمِ الأشْرافِ.

نیکوییِ پاک‌دامنی از خویِ بزرگواران است.

Virtuous chastity is from the traits of the honourable ones.

سَبَبُ القَناعَةِ العَفافُ.

سببِ قناعت پاک‌دامنی است.

The cause of contentment is chastity.

عَلَيْكَ بِالعِفَّةِ فَإنَّها نِعْمَ القَرينُ.

بر پاک‌دامنی باش، که چه نیکو یاری است.

Espouse chastity, for indeed it is a good companion.

حکمت ۶۴۳۷ — موضوع ۴۲۴ · ChastitySaying 6437 — Chastity

عَلَيْكَ بِالعَفافِ والقُنُوعِ، فَمَنْ أخَذَبِهِ خَفَّتْ عَلَيْهِ المُؤَنُ.

بر پاک‌دامنی و قناعت باش؛ که هر که بدان‌ها گرفت، بارِ گذراندنِ روزگار بر او سبک شود.

Espouse chastity and contentment, for whoever does this, his burden of sustenance is lightened.

حکمت ۶۴۳۸ — موضوع ۴۲۴ · ChastitySaying 6438 — Chastity

عَلَيْكَ بِالعَفافِ فَإنَّهُ أفْضَلُ شِيَمِ الأشْرافِ.

بر پاک‌دامنی باش، که همانا نیکوترین خویِ بزرگواران است.

Espouse chastity, for indeed it is the best trait of the honourable ones.

حکمت ۶۴۳۹ — موضوع ۴۲۴ · ChastitySaying 6439 — Chastity

عَلَيْكُمْ بِلُزُومِ العِفَّةِ، والأمانَةِ، فَإنَّهُما أشْرَفُ ما أسْرَرْتُمْ وأحْسَنُ ما أعْلَنْتُمْ، وأفْضَلُ مَا ادَّخَرْتُمْ.

بر پاک‌دامنی و امانت‌داری باش، که همانا آن‌ها ارجمندترینِ رازهای شما و نیکوترینِ آشکارهای و برترینِ ذخایراند.

You must espouse chastity and trustworthiness, for verily these two are the most honourable of what you can do in secret and the best of what you can practice openly, and the finest of what you can preserve.

عَلى قَدْرِ الحَياءِ تَـكُونُ العِفَّةُ.

به اندازهٔ شرم، پاک‌دامنی هست.

To the extent of modesty, there is chastity.
