ألا وإنَّ اللَّبيبَ مَنِ اسْتَقْبَلَ وُجُوهَ الآراءِ بِفِكْر صائِب، ونَظَر فِي العَواقِبِ.
آگاه باش که دانا آن است که روبرویِ رأی‌ها را با اندیشهٔ درستی روبه رو کند و در فرجام‌ها نگرش کند.
Indeed, the intelligent person is one who considers the different [expressed] opinions with correct reasoning and considers the consequences [of matters].
أعْقَلُكُمْ أطْوَعُكُمْ.
خردمندترینِ شما فرمان‌برترینِ شماست.
The most intelligent of you is the most submissive of you.
أعْقَلُ النّاسِ مَنْ أطاعَ العُقَلاءَ.
خردمندترینِ مردم آن است که به خردمندان فرمان ببرد.
The most intelligent person is one who follows the wise people.
إذا لَوَّحْتَ لِلْعاقِلِ فَقَدْ أوْجَعْتَهُ عِتاباً.
چون به خردمند اشاره کردی، با ملامت دردش را افزوده‌ای.
When you make an indirect reference to an intelligent person then you have tormented him with reproof.
أسْعَدُ النّاسِ العاقِلُ.
خوش‌بخت‌ترینِ مردم خردمند است.
The most felicitous of people is the intelligent one.
أعْقَلُ النّاسِ أحْياهُمْ.
خردمندترینِ مردم شرمسارترینِ ایشان است.
The most intelligent of people is the most modest of them.
أعْقَلُ الإنْسانِ مُحْسِنٌ خائِفٌ.
خردمندترینِ آدمی نیکوکارِ ترسان (از خدا) است.
The most intelligent person is the virtuous, fearful one.
أعْقَلُ النّاسِ أعْذَرُهُمْ لِلنّاسِ.
خردمندترینِ مردم آن است که بیش از همه برای مردم عذر آورد.
The most intelligent of people is the one who forgives [and accepts the excuses of] others the most.
أعْقَلُ النّاسِ أبْعَدُهُمْ عَنْ كُلِّ دَنِيَّة.
خردمندترینِ مردم آن است که از هر پستی دورتر است.
The most intelligent of people is the farthest of them from all vile things.
أعْقَلُ النّاسِ أطْوَعُهُمْ لِلّهِ سُبْحانَهُ.
خردمندترینِ مردم فرمان‌برترینِ ایشان به خداوند سبحان است.
The most intelligent of people is the most submissive of them to Allah, the Glorified.
أعْقَلُ النّاسِ أقْرَبُهُمْ مِنَ اللّهِ.
خردمندترینِ مردم نزدیک‌ترینِ ایشان به خدا است.
The most intelligent of people is the closest of them to Allah.
أعْقَلُ النّاسِ مَنْ كانَ بِعَيْبِهِ بَصيراً وعَنْ عَيْبِ غَيْـرِهِ ضَريراً.
خردمندترینِ مردم آن است که به عیب خود بینا و به عیبِ دیگران کور باشد.
The most intelligent of people is one who sees his own fault and is blind to the fault of others.
أعْقَلُ النَّاسِ مَنْ لايَتَجاوَزُ الصَّمْتَ في عُقُوبَةِ الجُهّالِ.
خردمندترینِ مردم آن است که در کیفرِ نادانان از خاموشی نمی‌گذرد.
The most intelligent of people is the one who does not go beyond silence in punishing the ignorant.
أفْضَلُ النّاسِ عَقْلاً، أحْسَنُهُمْ تَقْديراً لِمَعاشِهِ، وأشَدُّهُمُ اهْتِماماً بِإصْلاحِ مَعادِهِ.
خردمندترینِ مردم نیکوترینِ ایشان در سنجشِ معاشش و جدی‌ترین‌شان در صلاحِ معادش است.
The most intelligent of people is the best of them in estimating his livelihood and the most serious of them in endeavouring to improve his Hereafter.
أعْقَلُ النّاسِ مَنْ غَلَبَ جِدُّهُ هَزْلَهُ، واسْتَظْهَرَ عَلى هَواهُ بِعَقْلِهِ.
خردمندترینِ مردم آن است که جدّش بر هزلش چیره شود و به خردش بر هوا چیره شود.
The most intelligent of people is one whose seriousness overpowers his frivolity and who overcomes his vain desire with his intellect.
أعْقَلُ النّاسِ مَنْ ذَلَّ لِلْحَقِّ فَاعْطاهُ مِنْ نَفْسِهِ، وعَزَّ بِالحَقِّ فَلَمْ يُهِنْ إقامَتَهُ، وحُسْنَ العَمِلِ بِهِ.
خردمندترینِ مردم آن است که در برابرِ حق ذلیل شود و خود را بدان بسپارد، و با حق عزت جوید و برپایی‌اش و نیکو عمل‌کردن بدان را خوار نکند.
The most intelligent of people is one who is humbled in front of the truth so he submits himself to it, and is honoured by the truth so he does not undermine its establishment and acting upon it with goodness.
أعْقَلُ النّاسِ أنْظَرُهُمْ فِي العَواقِبِ.
خردمندترینِ مردم دیراندیش‌ترینِ ایشان به فرجام‌هاست.
The most intelligent of people is the one who is most considering of the consequences [of actions].
إنَّ العاقِلَ لايَنْخَدِعُ لِلطَّمَعِ (بِالطَّمع).
همانا خردمند به طمع فریب نخورد.
Verily the intelligent one is not beguiled by covetousness.
إنَّ العاقِلَ مَنْ عَقْلُهُ فِي إرْشاد، ومَنْ رَأْيُهُ فِي ازْدِياد، فَلِذلِكَ رَأْيُهُ سَديدٌ، وفِعْلُهُ حَميدٌ.
همانا خردمند آن است که خردش در راهنمایی و رأیش در افزون‌شدن باشد؛ برای ایندست رأیش درست و کردارش ستوده است.
Verily the intelligent person is one whose intellect is [employed] in right guidance and whose view is in [the process of development and] growth, that is why his view is correct and his action praiseworthy.
