حکمت ۷۰۱ تا ۷۲۰Sayings 701 to 720
مَنِ اغْتَرَّ بِالأمَلِ خَدَعَهُ.
هر که به آرزو فریفته شود، فریبش دهد.
One who is deceived by hope is misled by it.
مَنْ غَرَّتْهُ الأمانيُّ كَذَّبَتْهُ الآجالُ.
هر که آرزوها فریبش دهد، اجل‌ها دروغش شمارند.
One who is deceived by aspirations is belied by death.
مَنْ بَلَغَ غايَةَ أمَلِهِ فَلْيَتَوَقَّعْ حُلُولَ أجَلِهِ
هر که به غایت آرزویش رسد، باید در انتظار فرود اجلش باشد.
One who reaches the end of his hopes should expect the arrival of his death.
مَنْ تَبِعَ مُناهُ، كَثُرَ عَناؤُهُ.
هر که در پی آرزویش رود، رنجش فزون شود.
One who follows his aspirations faces increased hardship.
مَنْ جَرى في مَيْدانِ أمَلَهِ، عَثِرَ بِأجَلِهِ.
هر که در میدان آرزویش تازد، به اجلش بلغزد.
One who proceeds on the path of his hopes, stumbles upon his death.
مَنْ كَثُرَ مُناهُ، كَثُرَ عَناؤُهُ.
هر که آرزویش بسیار شود، رنجش بسیار شود.
One whose aspirations increase, his hardship increases.
مَنْ أمَّلَ ما لايُمْكِنُ، طالَ تَرَقُّبُهُ.
هر که امید ناممکنی بندد، انتظارش دراز شود.
One who hopes for that which is not possible, his anticipation becomes long.
مَنْ يَكُنِ اللّهُ أمَلَهُ، يُدْرِكُ غايَةَ الأمَلِ والرَّجاءِ.
هر که خدا امیدش باشد، به غایت آرزو و امید رسد.
One whose hope is [to reach] Allah, shall realize the fulfilment of his hope and aspiration.
مَنِ اسْتَقصَـرَ بَقاءَهُ وأجَلَهُ، قَصَّـرَ رَجاؤُهُ وأمَلُهُ.
هر که ماندنش و اجلش را کوتاه شمارَد، امید و آرزویش کوتاه شود.
Whoever regards his remaining lifetime to be fleeting, his hopes and aspirations become short.
مَنْ جَرى في عِنانِ أمَلِهِ عَثِرَ بِأجَلَهِ.
هر که در عنان آرزو تازد، به اجلش بلغزد.
One who proceeds on the course of his hopes, stumbles upon his death.
مَنّ أمَّلَ غَيْـرَ اللّهِ سُبْحانَه أكذَبَ آمالَهُ.
هر که جز خدای سبحان را امید بندد، امیدهایش را دروغ شمارَد.
One who hopes for anything other than Allah, the Glorified, has given lie to his hopes.
مَنِ اسْتَعانَ بِالأمانيِّ أفْلَسَ.
هر که به آرزوها یاری جوید، تهیدست شود.
One who seeks support from his aspirations becomes penniless.
مِنَ الحُمْقِ الاِتِّكالُ عَلَى الأمَلِ.
از حماقت است تکیه بر آرزو.
It is foolishness to depending on [one’s] hope.
ذُلُّ الرِّجالِ في خَيْبَةِ الآمالِ.
خواریِ مردمان در نومیدیِ امیدهاست.
The humiliation of men is in the dashing of hopes.
رَحِمَ اللّهُ امْرَءاً قَصَّرَ الأمَلَ، وبادَرَ الأجَلَ، واغْتَنَمَ المَهَلَ، وتَزَوَّدَ مِنَ العَملِ.
خدا رحمت کند کسی را که آرزو را کوتاه کرد و با اجل پیشی گرفت و مهلت را غنیمت داشت و از عمل توشه برداشت.
May Allah have mercy on the man who shortens his hopes, anticipates death, makes good use of his time and takes with him the provisions of [good] deeds.
رُبَّ اُمْنِيَّة تَحتَ مَنِيَّة.
بسا آرزویی که زیر مرگی پنهان است.
Many an aspiration may lie beneath death.
زِدْ مِنْ طُولِ أمَلِكَ في قَصْرِ أجَلِكَ، ولا تَغُرَّنَّكَ صِحَّةُ جِسْمِكَ وَسَلامَةُ أمْسِكَ، فَإنَّ مُدَّة َ العُمرِ قَليلَةٌ، وسَلامَةُ الجِسمِ مُسْتَحيلَةٌ.
از درازیِ اجلت بکاه، نه آن‌که بر درازیِ آرزویت بیفزایی؛ و صحتِ بدنت و سلامتِ دیروزت فریبت ندهد که مدت عمر اندک است و سلامت تن محال.
Take away from your long hopes and increase your short lifetime, and do not be deceived by your good physical health and yesterday’s wellbeing, for life is short and good health is prone to change.
شَـرُّ الفَقْرِ المُنى.
بدترینِ تهیدستی آرزوست.
The worst poverty is [false] aspiration.
ضِياعُ العُمْرِ بَيْنَ الآمالِ والمُنى.
عمر میان آرزوها و آرزومندی‌ها تباه شود.
Lifetimes are wasted between hope and aspiration.
