حکمت ۸۴۴۱ — موضوع ۵۵۱ · Speech And SpeakingSaying 8441 — Speech And Speakingإيّاكَ وفُضُولَ الكَلامِ، فَإنَّهُ يُظْهِرُ مِنْ عُيُوبِكَ ما بَطَنَ، ويُحَرِّكُ عَلَيْكَ مِنْ أعْدائِكَ ما سَكَنَ.
از فضول‌گویی بپرهیز، که همانا پنهانیِ عیب‌هایت را آشکار و دشمنانِ آرامت را برانگیزد.
Beware of excessive [and impertinent] speech, for indeed it manifests your hidden flaws and provokes your silent enemies.
حکمت ۸۴۴۲ — موضوع ۵۵۱ · Speech And SpeakingSaying 8442 — Speech And Speakingإيّاكَ وما يُسْتَهْجَنُ مِنَ الكَلامِ، فَإنَّهُ يَحْبِسُ (يَحيسُ) عَلَيْكَ اللِّئامَ، ويُنَفِّرُ عَنْكَ الكِرامَ.
از زشت‌گوییهایی که زشت‌شمارده می‌شوند بپرهیز، که همانا پست‌کاران را بر تو رها (نشانده) و بزرگواران را از تو ببرد.
Beware of speech which is offensive, for indeed it confines you to [the company of] vile people and repels the honourable ones from you.
حکمت ۸۴۴۳ — موضوع ۵۵۱ · Speech And SpeakingSaying 8443 — Speech And Speakingإيّاكَ والكَلامَ فيما لاتَعْرِفُ طريقَتَهُ، ولاتَعْلَمُ حَقيقَتَهُ، فَإنَّ قَوْلَكَ يَدُلُّ عَلى عَقْلِكَ، وعِبارَتَكَ تُنْبِئُ عَنْ مَعْرِفَتِكَ، فَتَوَقَّ مِنْ طُولِ لِسانِكَ ما أمِنْتَهُ، واخْتَصِرْ مِنْ كَلامِكَ مَا اسْتَحْسَنْتَهُ، فَإنَّهُ بِكَ أجْمَلُ وعَلى فَضْلِكَ أدَلُّ.
در آنچه راهش را نمی‌شناسی و حقیقتش را نمی‌دانی سخن مگو، که همانا سخنت از خردت دلالت کند و بیان‌ات از شناختت خبر دهد؛ پس از درازِ زبانت آنچه را که در امان بودی بپرهیز و از سخنت آنچه را که پسندیدی کوتاه کن، که همانا این بر تو زیباتر و بر فضیلتت دلالت‌کننده‌تر است.
Beware of speaking about something whose way you are unfamiliar with and whose reality you are unaware of, for indeed your speech indicates your intellect, and your expression informs about your level of understanding, so limit your long tongue to that which keeps you safe, and make your speech concise to [the extent of] what is deemed good, for indeed this is more beautiful for you and more indicative of your merit.
حکمت ۸۴۴۴ — موضوع ۵۵۱ · Speech And SpeakingSaying 8444 — Speech And Speakingلايَنْفَعُ قَوْلٌ بِغَيْرِ عَمَل.
سخن بدونِ عمل سودمند نیست.
There is no benefit in speech without action.
حکمت ۸۴۴۵ — موضوع ۵۵۱ · Speech And SpeakingSaying 8445 — Speech And Speakingأصْدَقُ القَوْلِ ما طابَقَ الحَقَّ.
راست‌گوی‌ترینِ سخن، آن است که با حق هم‌خوانی کند.
The most veracious speech is that which conforms to the truth.
حکمت ۸۴۴۶ — موضوع ۵۵۱ · Speech And SpeakingSaying 8446 — Speech And Speakingأحْسَنُ المَقالِ ما صَدَّقَهُ الفِعالُ.
نیکوترینِ سخن، آن است که کردار آن را راست گرداند.
The best of utterances is that which is affirmed by action.
حکمت ۸۴۴۷ — موضوع ۵۵۱ · Speech And SpeakingSaying 8447 — Speech And Speakingأشْبَهُ النّاسِ بِأنْبِياءِ اللّهِ أقْوَلُهُمْ لِلْحَقِّ، وأصْبَرُهُمْ عَلَى العَمَلِ بِهِ.
ماندنی‌ترینِ مردم به پیامبرانِ خدا، راست‌گوی‌ترین‌شان به حق و صابرترین‌شان بر عمل به آن‌اند.
The people who most resemble the Prophets of Allah are those who speak the truth the most and are most patient in acting upon it.
حکمت ۸۴۴۸ — موضوع ۵۵۱ · Speech And SpeakingSaying 8448 — Speech And Speakingأقْرَبُ العِبادِ إلَى اللّهِ تَعالى أقْوَلُهُمْ لِلْحَقِّ وإنْ كانَ عَلَيْهِ، وأعْمَلُهُمْ بِالحَقِّ وإنْ كانَ فيهِ كُرْهُهُ.
نزدیک‌ترینِ بندگان به خداوند تعالی، راست‌گوی‌ترین‌شان به حق — هرچند بر خودش باشد — و عمل‌کننده‌ترین‌شان به حق — هرچند در آن چیزی باشد که خوشش نمی‌آید — است.
The closest of servants to Allah, the Glorified, is one who speaks the truth even if it is against him and one who acts upon the truth even if there is something he dislikes in it.
حکمت ۸۴۴۹ — موضوع ۵۵۱ · Speech And SpeakingSaying 8449 — Speech And Speakingأقْبَحُ مِنَ الْعَيِّ الزِّيادَةُ عَلَى المَنْطِقِ عَنْ مَوْضِعِ الحاجَةِ.
زشت‌تر از ناتوانیِ سخن، آن است که بیش از نیاز سخن بگوید.
It is worse than inarticulateness for one to speak more than [what] is necessary.
حکمت ۸۴۵۰ — موضوع ۵۵۱ · Speech And SpeakingSaying 8450 — Speech And Speakingأصْوَبُ الرَّمْيِ القَوْلُ المُصيبُ.
درست‌ترینِ تیراندازی، سخنِ بایسته (درست) است.
The most accurate shot is speech that is prudent.
حکمت ۸۴۵۱ — موضوع ۵۵۱ · Speech And SpeakingSaying 8451 — Speech And Speakingأحْسَنُ الكَلامِ ما زانَهُ حُسْنُ النِّظامِ، وفَهِمَهُ الخاصُّ وَالعامُّ.
نیکوترینِ سخن، آن است که نیکوییِ نظام (ساختار) آن را آراسته باشد و خواص و عوام آن را بفهمند.
The best speech is that which is adorned by good arrangement and understood by [both] the elite and the general public.
حکمت ۸۴۵۲ — موضوع ۵۵۱ · Speech And SpeakingSaying 8452 — Speech And Speakingأبْلَغُ البَلاغَةِ ما سَهُلَ فِي الصَّوابِ مَجازُهُ، وحَسُنَ إيجازُهُ.
رساترینِ بلغت، آن است که مجازش در راستی آسان و ايجازش نیکو باشد.
The most conveying eloquent speech is that which is easily passed on [and understood] correctly and which is appropriately concise.
حکمت ۸۴۵۳ — موضوع ۵۵۱ · Speech And SpeakingSaying 8453 — Speech And Speakingأشْرَفُ الأقْوالِ الصِّدْقُ.
ارجمندترینِ سخنان، راستی است.
The most honourable speech is the truth.
حکمت ۸۴۵۴ — موضوع ۵۵۱ · Speech And SpeakingSaying 8454 — Speech And Speakingأحْسَنُ الكَلامِ ما لاتَمُجُّهُ الآذانُ، ولايُتْعِبُ فَهْمُهُ الأفْهامَ (الأذهانَ).
نیکوترینِ سخن، آن است که گوش‌ها آن را نکویند و فهمش ذهن‌ها را خسته نکند.
The best speech is that which is not dismissed by the ears and is not difficult for the minds to comprehend.
حکمت ۸۴۵۵ — موضوع ۵۵۱ · Speech And SpeakingSaying 8455 — Speech And Speakingإنَّ مِنَ العِبادَةِ لينَ الكَلامِ، وإفْشاءَ السَّلامِ.
همانا نرم‌خویی در سخن و پراکنده‌کردنِ سلام، از عبادت است.
Verily polite speech and the propagation of peace are forms of worship.
حکمت ۸۴۵۶ — موضوع ۵۵۱ · Speech And SpeakingSaying 8456 — Speech And Speakingإنَّ فَضْلَ القَوْلِ عَلَى الفِعْلِ لَهُجْنَةٌ، وإنَّ فَضْلَ الفِعْلِ عَلَى القَوْلِ لَجَمالٌ وزينَةٌ.
همانا پیشیِ سخن بر کردار، ناسازی است و پیشیِ کردار بر سخن، زیبا و زینت است.
Indeed the preference of speech over action is a shortcoming, and the preference of action over speech is indeed a beauty and an adornment.
حکمت ۸۴۵۷ — موضوع ۵۵۱ · Speech And SpeakingSaying 8457 — Speech And Speakingسُنَّةُ اللِّئامِ قُبْحُ الكَلامِ.
سنتِ پست‌کاران، زشت‌گویی است.
The practice of the wicked is [using] vulgar speech.
حکمت ۸۴۵۸ — موضوع ۵۵۱ · Speech And SpeakingSaying 8458 — Speech And Speakingسامِعُ هُجْرِ القَوْلِ شَريكُ القائِلِ.
شنوندهٔ زشت‌گویی، شریکِ گوینده است.
The one who listens to obscene speech is a partner of the speaker.
حکمت ۸۴۵۹ — موضوع ۵۵۱ · Speech And SpeakingSaying 8459 — Speech And Speakingسُوءُ المَنْطِقِ يُزْري بِالبَهاءِ والمُرُوَّةِ.
زشتیِ سخن، بزرگی و مردمانگی را خوار کند.
Bad speech degrades one’s prestige and magnanimity.
حکمت ۸۴۶۰ — موضوع ۵۵۱ · Speech And SpeakingSaying 8460 — Speech And Speakingسُوءُ المَنْطِقِ يُزْري بِالقَدْرِ، ويُفْسِدُ الأُخُوَّةَ.
زشتیِ سخن، مقام را خوار و برادری را تباه کند.
Offensive speech degrades ones status and corrupts brotherhood.
