سُرُورُ المُؤْمِنِ بِطاعَةِ رَبِّهِ، وحُزْنُهُ على ذَنْبِهِ.
شادیِ مؤمن به طاعت پروردگارش است و اندوهش بر گناهش.
The joy of a believer is in the obedience of his Lord, and his sorrow is due to his sin.

طَرْفُ المُؤْمِنِ نَزاهَتُهُ عَنِ المَحارِمِ، ومُبادِرَتُهُ إلَى المَكارِمِ.
کارِ مؤمن پاکدامنی از محرّمات است و شتابش به سوی مکارم.
The integrity of a believer is in his keeping away from what is forbidden and hastening towards virtues.
ألمُؤْمِنُ هَيِّـنٌ لَيِّنٌ، سَهْلٌ، مُؤتَمَنٌ.
مؤمن فروتن و نرم است و آسان‌گیر و مورد اعتماد.
A believer is easy going, polite, approachable and reliable.
اَلمُؤْمِنُ قَليلُ الزَّلَلِ، كَثيرُ العَمَلِ.
مؤمن لغزشش اندک و عملش بسیار است.
A believer makes few mistakes and does plenty of work.
المُؤمِنُ سيرَتُهُ القَصْدُ، وسُنَّتُهُ الرُّشدُ.
روشِ مؤمن میانه‌روی است و سنتش راه‌یافتگی.
The demeanour of a believer is characterized by moderation and his conduct is upright.
اَلمُؤْمِنُ يَعافُ اللَّهْوَ، وَيَألِفُ الجِدَّ.
مؤمن از بطالت بیزار است و با جدّ اُنس دارد.
A believer loathes idle play and likes to work hard.
إذا صَعَدَتْ رُوحُ المُؤْمِنِ إلَى السَّماءِتَعَجَّبَتِ المَلائِكَةُ وقالَتْ عَجَباً كَيْفَ نَجا مِنْ دار فَسَدَ فيها خِيارُنا.
چون روح مؤمن به آسمان برود، فرشتگان شگفت‌زده شوند و گویند: شگفتا! چگونه نجات یافت از سرایی که نیکانِ ما در آن تباه شدند؟
When the soul of a believer ascends to the heavens, the angels are amazed and say: It is incredible how he was saved from a place where the best of us[^2] got corrupted.
اَلمُؤمِنُ مَغْمُومٌ بِفِكْرَتِهِ، ضَنينٌ بِخُلَّتِهِ.
مؤمن در اندیشه‌اش غمگین است و در دوستی‌اش محتاط.
A believer is sorrowful in his thoughts [about himself], sparing in his friendship.
اَلمُؤمِنُ لَيِّنُ العَريكَةِ، سَهْلُ الخَليقَةِ.
مؤمن نرم‌خو است و ساده‌سرشت.
A believer has a mild disposition and is easy going.
اَلمُؤْمِنُ لايَظْلِمُ، وَلايَتَأثَّمُ.
مؤمن ستم نکند و گناهپیشگی نکند.
A believer does not oppress [anyone] and eschews sin.
اَلمُؤْمِنُ يُنْصِفُ مَنْ لا يُنْصِفُهُ.
مؤمن با آن‌که انصافش ندهد، انصاف دهد.
A believer is fair to the one who is unfair to him.
المُؤْمِنُ آلِفٌ، مألُوفٌ، مُتَعَطِّفٌ.
مؤن اُنس‌گیرنده و اُنس‌پذیر و مهربان است.
A believer is affectionate, endearing and compassionate.
إنَّ المُؤْمنينَ هَيْنُونَ، لَيْنُونَ.
مؤمنان فروتن و نرم‌خویند.
Indeed believers are approachable and soft-hearted.
إنَّ المُؤْمِنينَ مُحْسِنُونَ.
مؤمنان نیکوکارند.
Believers are indeed virtuous.
إنَّ المُؤْمِنينَ خائِفُونَ.
مؤمنان بیمناک‌اند.
Indeed believers are fearful [of Allah].
اَلمُؤْمِنُ بِعَمَلِهِ.
مؤمن به عملش [شناخته شود].
A believer is [gauged] by his actions.
اَلمُؤمِنُونَ أعْظَمُ أحْلاماً. [^1]: Or, if taken in the context of Q70:27 and other similar verses, this could be translated as: Believers are indeed apprehensive [of the punishment of Allah]. [^2]: Other copies have ‘the best of them’ – and this seems to be more correct.
مؤمنان بزرگ‌ترین بردباری‌ها را دارند.
Believers possess more intelligence [than others].
اَلإنسانُ بِعَقْلِهِ.
انسان به خِرَدش [شناخته شود].
The human being is [distinguished] by his intellect.
صَلاحُ الإنسانِ في حَبْسِ اللِّسانِ وبَذْلِ الإحسانِ.
صلاح انسان در بستن زبان و بخشیدن نیکی است.
The uprightness of a human being is in controlling the tongue and doing good deeds.
وَقالَ ـ عليه السّلام ـ في وَصفِ مَنْ ذَمَّهُ: لايَحْسِبُ رَزِيَّةً، ولا يَخْشَعُ تَقِيَّةً، لا يَعْرِفُ بابَ الهُدى، فَيَتَّبِعَهُ ولا بابَ الرَّدى فَيَصُدَّ عَنْهُ.
در وصف کسی که نکوهشش کرد فرمود: نه مصیبت را [دریابد] و نه از روی تقوا فروتنی کند؛ نه درِ هدایت را شناسد تا پیگیردش و نه درِ هلاکت را تا از آن باز ایستد.
He (‘a) said about the one whom he censured: He does not anticipate any misfortune and does not humble himself in piety. He does not know the door of guidance so as to go towards it, nor [does he know] the door of perdition so as to turn away from it.
