حکمت ۹۴۴۱ — موضوع ۶۲۴ · DispositionSaying 9441 — Disposition

مَنْ أحْسَنَ المَلَكَةَ أمِنَ الهَلَكَةَ.

هر که ملکه (رفتار) با (مماليک) را نیکو کند، از نابودی در امان ماند.

One whose disposition is good [with those who are under him] remains safe from annihilation.

حکمت ۹۴۴۲ — موضوع ۶۲۵ · One Who Is Fed-UpSaying 9442 — One Who Is Fed-Up

لَيْسَ لِمَلُول إخاءٌ.

برای خسته‌دل (ملول)، برادری‌ای نیست.

One who is fed-up has no [sense of] brotherhood.

لَيْسَ لِمَلُول مُرُوَّةٌ.

برای خسته‌دل (ملول)، مردمانگی‌ای نیست.

One who is fed-up has no magnanimity.

لاتَأمَنَنَّ مَلُولاً وإنْ تَحَلّى بِالصِّلَةِ، فَإنَّهُ لَيْسَ فيِ البَرْقِ الخاطِفِ مُسْتَمْتَعٌ لِمَنْ يَخُوضُ الظُّلْمَةَ.

هرگز از خسته‌دل در امان مگیر، هرچند به پیوند (صله) آراسته باشد، که همانا برای آن کس که در تاریخی فرو رفته، در برقِ زودگذر (برقِ خطّاف) لذتی نیست.

Never feel secure from the one who is fed-up [with you] even if he is endowed with gifts for indeed there is no enjoyment in lightening for the one who is plunged into darkness.

لاأُخُوَّةَ لِمَلُول

برای خسته‌دل، برادری‌ای نیست.

There is no brotherhood for the one who is fed-up.

لاخُلَّةَ لِمَلُول.

برای خسته‌دل، دوستی‌ای (خلّتی) نیست.

There is no friendship for the one who is fed-up.

اَلْمَلَلُ (المُلْكُ) يُفْسِدُ الأُ خُوَّةَ.

خستگی (ملل)، برادری را تباه کند.

Irritation (or kingship) corrupts brotherhood.

حکمت ۹۴۴۸ — موضوع ۶۲۷ · The InaccessibleSaying 9448 — The Inaccessible

كُلُّ مُمْتَنِع صَعْبٌ مَنالُهُ ومَرامُهُ.

هر چیزِ دور دست (دسترسی‌نداشته)، به‌دست‌آوردن و طلبش دشوار است.

Every inaccessible thing is difficult to obtain and seek.

اَلْمَنُّ يُسَوِّدُ النِّعْمَةَ.

منّت، نعمت را سیاه کند.

Putting someone under obligation blackens the favour.

اَلْمَنُّ مُفْسِدَةُ الصَّنِيعَةِ.

منّت، تباه‌کنندۀِ نیکی (صنِيعه) است.

Obligation is the corruptor of good actions.

منّت، احسان را تلخ کند.

Doing acts of kindness along with obligation is vileness.

آفَةُ السَّخاءِ المَنُّ.

آفتِ بخشندگی، منّت است.

The bane of generosity is obligation.

بِالمَنِّ يُكَدَّرُ الإحْسانُ.

به منّت، احسان کدر (تلخ) شود.

به بسیارِ منّت، نیکی (صنِيعه) کدر (تلخ) شود.

By putting a lot of obligation, the good action is spoilt.

طُولُ الاِمْتِنانِ يُكَدِّرُ صَفْوَ الإحْسانِ.

درازیِ منّت، صفایِ احسان را کدر (تلخ) کند.

Prolonged obligation spoils the pureness of a good turn.

ظَلَمَ المُرُوءَةَ مَنْ مَنَّ بِصنيعِهِ.

آن کس که به نیکی‌اش منّت بورد، بر مردمانگی ستم کرده است.

One who puts an obligation [on others] by his good action has oppressed magnanimity.
