حکمت ۱۰۰۰۱ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 10001 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountطُوبى لِمَنْ سَعى في فَكاكِ نَفْسِهِ قَبْلَ ضِيقِ الأنْفاسِ وشِدَّةِ الإبْلاسِ.
خوشا به حال کسی که در آزادیِ جانِ خویش پیش از تنگ شدنِ نفس‌ها و سختیِ ناامیدی و اندوه کوشید.
Blessed is the one who strives to free his soul before the shortness of breath and the severity of despair [at the time of death].
حکمت ۱۰۰۰۲ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 10002 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountطُوبى لِمَنْ ذَلَّ في نَفْسِهِ وعَزَّ بِطاعَتِهِ وغَنِيَ بِقَناعَتِِهِ.
خوشا به حال کسی که در پیشگاهِ خویشتن فروتن باشد، و به طاعتِ حق سرافراز، و با قناعتِ خود بی‌نیاز گردد.
Blessed is he who considers himself as low, gains honour through his obedience [to Allah] and becomes free from want through his contentment.
حکمت ۱۰۰۰۳ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 10003 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountطُوبى لِمَنْ كانَ لَهُ مِنْ نَفْسِهِ شُغْلٌ شاغِلٌ، والنّاسُ مِنْهُ في راحَة، وعَمِلَ بِطاعَةِ اللّهِ سُبْحانَهُ.
خوشا به حال کسی که پرداختن به نفسِ خود او را سرگرم داشته و مردم از او در آسایشند، و به طاعتِ خداوندِ سبحان عمل کند.
Blessed is the one who has in his soul that which keeps him preoccupied [from others] and the people are at ease from him, and who acts in obedience to Allah, the Glorified.
حکمت ۱۰۰۰۴ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 10004 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountطُوبى لِنَفْس أدَّتْ إلى رَبِّها فَرْضَها.
خوشا به حال جانی که واجباتش را به پروردگارش ادا کند.
Blessed be the soul that fulfils its duty to its Lord.
حکمت ۱۰۰۰۵ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 10005 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountطَهِّرُوا أنْفُسَكُمْ مِنْ دَنَسِ الشَّهَواتِ تُدْرِكُوا رَفِيعَ الدَّرَجاتِ.
نفس‌هایتان را از آلودگیِ شهوت‌ها پاک گردانید تا به درجاتِ والایی دست یابید.
Purify your souls from the filth of lustful desires and you will attain lofty stations.
حکمت ۱۰۰۰۶ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 10006 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountظَلَمَ نَفْسَهُ مَنْ عَصَى اللّهَ وأطاعَ الشَّيْطانَ.
هر که نافرمانیِ خدا کند و از شیطان فرمان برد، به جانِ خویش ستم کرده است.
Whoever disobeys Allah and obeys Satan has oppressed his soul.
حکمت ۱۰۰۰۷ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 10007 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountظَلَمَ نَفْسَهُ مَنْ رَضِيَ بِدارِ الْفَناءِ عِوَضاً عَنْ دارِ الْبَقاءِ.
هر که سرای فنا را به جای سرای بقا برگزیند و بدان خشنود شود، بر خویشتن ستم روا داشته است.
Whoever is satisfied with the temporary abode in place of the everlasting abode has oppressed himself.
حکمت ۱۰۰۰۸ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 10008 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountعَوِّدْنَفْسَكَ الْجَميلَ فَإنَّهُ يُجْمِلُ عَنْكَ الأُحْدُوثَةَ ويُجْزِلُ لَكَ المَثُوبَةَ.
نفست را به نیکی خو ده، چراکه آن نیک‌نامی‌ات را می‌آراید و پاداشت را بزرگ می‌سازد.
Accustom your soul to virtue, for indeed it will make that which is spoken about you good and will make your reward great.
حکمت ۱۰۰۰۹ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 10009 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountعَوِّدْ نَفْسَكَ الاِسْتِهْتارَ بِالذِّكْرِ وَالاِسْتِغْفارِ فَإنَّهُ يَمْحُو عَنْكَ الْحَوْبَةَ وَيُعَظِّمْ لَكَ الْمَثُوبَةَ.
نفست را به شیفتگی و انس با یادِ خدا و آمرزش‌خواهی عادت ده، زیرا آن گناه را می‌زداید و پاداشت را بزرگ می‌گرداند.
Accustom yourself to being engrossed in remembrance [of Allah] and repentance, for indeed this will wipe out your sin and make your reward great.
حکمت ۱۰۰۱۰ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 10010 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountعَوِّدْ نَفْسَكَ فِعْلَ الْمَكارِمِ وتَحَمُّلَ أعْباءِ الْمَغارِمِ تَشْرُفْ نَفْسُكَ وَتُعْمَرْ آخِرَتُكَ ويَكْثُرْ حامِدُوكَ.
نفست را به انجامِ کارهای بزرگوارانه و به دوش کشیدنِ بارِ تاوان‌ها عادت ده؛ تا جانت شریف گردد، آخرتت آباد شود و ستایندگانت افزون گردند.
Habituate yourself to [performing] noble deeds and bearing the burden of [others’] liabilities, [for through this] your soul will become honourable, your Hereafter will thrive and those who praise you will increase.
حکمت ۱۰۰۱۱ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 10011 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountعَوِّدْ نَفْسَكَ حُسْنَ النِّـيَّةِ وجَمِيلَ الْمَقْصَدِ تُدْرِكْ في مَباغيكَ (مَساعِيكَ) النَّجاحَ.
خویشتن را به نیتِ نیکو و مقصودِ زیبا عادت ده تا در خواسته‌ها و تلاش‌هایت به کامیابی دست یابی.
Habituate yourself to good intention and virtuous purpose, you will attain success in your aspirations (or endeavours).
حکمت ۱۰۰۱۲ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 10012 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountعَوِّدْنَفْسَكَ السَّماحَ وتَجَنُّبَ الإلْحاحِ يَلْزَمْكَ الصَّلاحُ.
نفست را به بخشش و گذشت و پرهیز از اصرار و پافشاری خو ده تا صلاح و شایستگی همراهِ تو گردد.
Habituate yourself to forbearance and eschewing importunity, [and as a result] righteousness will adhere to you.
حکمت ۱۰۰۱۳ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 10013 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountعَجِبْتُ لِمَنْ عَرَفَ نَفْسَهُ كَيْفَ يَأْنَسُ بِدارِ الْفَناءِ.
در شگفتم از کسی که نفسِ خود را شناخته است، چگونه با سرای فنا انس می‌گیرد؟!
I am amazed at the one who knows himself, how can he feel at ease in the temporary abode [of this world]?!
حکمت ۱۰۰۱۴ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 10014 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountعَجِبْتُ لِمَنْ يَنْشُدُ ضالَّتَهُ وقَدْ أضَلَّ نَفْسَهُ فَلا يَطْلُبُها.
در شگفتم از کسی که گم‌شده‌اش را می‌جوید، در حالی که جانِ خویش را گم کرده و در پیِ آن نیست!
I am amazed at the one who searches for the thing he has lost while he has lost his own soul and does not seek it!
حکمت ۱۰۰۱۵ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 10015 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountعَجِبْتُ لِمَنْ يَظْلِمُ نَفْسَهُ كَيْفَ يُنْصِفُ غَيْرَهُ.
در شگفتم از کسی که به جانِ خویشتن ستم می‌کند، چگونه با دیگران دادگری و انصاف ورزد؟!
I am amazed at the one who oppresses his own soul, how can he be fair to others?!
حکمت ۱۰۰۱۶ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 10016 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountعَجِبْتُ لِمَنْ يَجْهَلُ نَفْسَهُ كَيْفَ يَعْرِفُ رَبَّهُ.
در شگفتم از کسی که نسبت به خویش نادان است، چگونه پروردگارش را می‌شناسد؟!
I am amazed at the one who is ignorant about himself, how can he know his Lord?!
حکمت ۱۰۰۱۷ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 10017 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountغالِبُوا أنْفُسَكُمْ عَلى تَرْكِ المَعاصِي تَسْهُلْ عَلَيْكُمْ مَقادَتُها عَلَى الطّاعاتِ.
با نفس‌های خود در ترکِ معصیت‌ها پیکار کنید تا راه بردنِ آن‌ها به سوی طاعات برایتان آسان گردد.
Compel your souls to abandon acts of disobedience and it will become easier for you to lead them towards acts of obedience [and worship].
حکمت ۱۰۰۱۸ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 10018 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountغالِبُوا أنْفُسَكُمْ عَلى تَرْكِ العاداتِ تَغْلِبُوها وجاهِدُوا أهْوائَكُمْ تَمْلِكُوها.
بر نفس‌هایتان برای ترکِ عادت‌ها چیره شوید تا بر آن‌ها غلبه یابید، و با هوا و هوس‌هایتان بستیزید تا مالکِ آن‌ها شوید.
Compel your souls to abandon bad habits and you will overcome them; fight against your vain desires and you will gain control over them.
حکمت ۱۰۰۱۹ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 10019 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountفي مُجاهَدَةِ النَّفْسِ كَمالُ الصَّلاحِ.
کمالِ صلاح و درستی، در پیکار با نفس است.
Perfection of righteousness is in struggling against the [carnal] soul.
حکمت ۱۰۰۲۰ — موضوع ۶۶۲ · The Soul And Holding It To AccountSaying 10020 — The Soul And Holding It To Accountفي خِلافِ النَّفْسِ رُشْدُها.
رشد و کمالِ نفس، در مخالفت با آن نهفته است.
The guidance of the soul is in opposing it.
