اَلمُسْتَثْقِلُ النّائِمُ تُكَذِّبُهُ أحْلامُهُ.
کسی که به خوابِ سنگین فرو رود، رویاهایش او را دروغ‌زن جلوه می‌دهد.
One who is deep in sleep is belied by his dreams.
وَيْحَ النّائِمِ ما أخْسَرَهُ قَصُرَ عَمَلُهُ وقَلَّ أجْرُهُ.
وای بر انسانِ خواب‌آلود که چه زیانکار است! عملش کوتاه و پاداشش اندک می‌گردد.
Woe to the sleeper, how great is his loss! His actions fall short and his reward is little.
إذَا اسْتُنِبتَ فَاعْزِمْ.
هرگاه به نیابت برگزیده شدی، در کار عزمِ راسخ داشته باش.
When you are appointed as a deputy, then be resolute [in fulfilling your obligation].
مَنْ نالَ اسْتَطالَ.
هر که به مقام و مال دست یافت، گردن‌کشی و دست‌درازی کرد.
Whoever obtains [great wealth or power] becomes overbearing.
اَلنِّيَّةُ الصَّالِحَةُ أحَدُ العَمَلَينِ.
نیتِ شایسته و پاک، یکی از دو کردار به شمار می‌آید.
Righteous intention is one of the two actions.[^1]
أفْضَلُ الذَّخائِرِ حُسْنُ الضَّمائِرِ.
برترینِ اندوخته‌ها، نیکی و پاکیِ باطن‌هاست.
The best of provisions is having good inner consciences.
أقْرَبُ النِّيّاتِ بِالنَّجاحِ أعْوَدُها بِالصَّلاحِ.
نزدیک‌ترین نیت‌ها به کامیابی، آن است که به خیر و درستی نزدیک‌تر باشد.
The closest intentions to success are those that are nearest to righteousness.
أبْلَغُ ما تُسْتَدَرُّ بِهِ الرَّحْمَةُ أنْ تُضْمَرَ لِجَميعِ النّاسِ الرَّحْمَةُ.
رساترین راهی که رحمتِ الهی با آن فرو می‌بارد، این است که در دل برای همهٔ مردم مهربانی و دلسوزی داشته باشی.
The most effective thing in making mercy flow forth [and surround you] is having mercy in your heart for all the people.
إنَّ اللّهَ سُبْحانَهُ عِنْدَ إضْمارِ كُلِّ مُضْمِر، وقَوْلِ كُلِّ قائِل، وعَمَلِ كُلِّ عامِل.
همانا خداوند سبحان نزدِ نیتِ پنهانیِ هر پنهان‌دارنده، گفتارِ هر گوینده و کردارِ هر عمل‌کننده‌ای حاضر و آگاه است.
Verily Allah, the Glorified, knows the hidden intention of every concealer, the speech of every speaker and the action of every doer.
إنَّ تَخْليصَ النِّيَّةِ مِنَ الفَسادِ أشَدُّ مِنَ العامِلينَ مِنْ طُولِ الاِجْتِهادِ.
همانا پیراستنِ نیت از تباهی، برای اهلِ عمل دشوارتر از جهاد و کوششِ طولانی است.
Verily making intentions sincere and free from corruption is more difficult for the doers [of good deeds] than a prolonged, difficult struggle.
إنَّ اللّهَ سُبْحانَهُ يُحِبُّ أنْ تَكُونَ نِيَّةُ الإنْسانِ لِلنّاسِ جَمِيلَةً، كَما يُحِبُّ أنْ تَكُونَ نِيَّتُهُ في طاعَتِهِ قَوِيَّةً غَيْرَ مَدْخُولَة.
خداوند سبحان دوست دارد که نیتِ انسان برای مردم نیکو باشد، چنان‌که دوست دارد نیتش در طاعتِ او استوار و بی‌آلایش باشد.
Verily Allah, the Glorified, likes a person’s intention towards the people to be good just as He likes his intention in His obedience to be strong, not shaky.
اَلأعْمالُ ثِمارُ النِّيّاتِ.
کردارها، میوه‌های نیت‌ها هستند.
Actions are the fruits of intentions.
اَلنِيَّةُ أساسُ العَمَلِ.
نیت، بنیاد و پایهٔ کردار است.
Intention is the basis of action.
إحْسانُ النِّيـَّةِ يُوجِبُ المَثُوبَةَ.
نیکو ساختنِ نیت، پاداشِ الهی را واجب می‌گرداند.
Having a good intention brings about reward.
إذا فَسَدَتِ النِّيـَّةُ وَقَعَتِ البَلِيَّةُ.
هرگاه نیت تباه گردد، بلا و گرفتاری فرود آید.
When the intention gets corrupted, affliction befalls.
بِحُسْنِ النِّيـّاتِ تُنْجَحُ المَطالِبُ.
با نیکوییِ نیت‌ها، مقصودها به دست می‌آید.
Through good intentions, what is sought is attained.
تَقَرُّبُ العَبْدِ إلَى اللّهِ سُبْحانَهُ بِإخْلاصِ نِيَّتِهِ.
نزدیکیِ بنده به خدای سبحان، با اخلاص در نیت حاصل می‌شود.
The servant attains nearness to Allah through the sincerity of his intention.
تَخْلِيصُ النِّيـَّةِ مِنَ الفَسادِ أشَدُّ عَلَى العامِلينَ مِنْ طُولِ الجِهادِ.
پیراستنِ نیت از فساد، بر اهلِ عمل سخت‌تر از جهادِ درازمدت است.
Making intentions sincere and free from corruption is more difficult for the doers [of good deeds] than a long, hard struggle.
جَمِيلُ المَقْصَدِ يَدُلُّ عَلى طَهارَةِ المَوْلِدِ.
نیکوییِ مقصود و نیت، گواه بر پاکیِ ولادت است.
Having good aims [and intentions] is an indication of legitimate birth.
