إنَّكُمْ إلى أزْوادِالتَّقْوى أحْوَجُ مِنْكُمْ إلى أزْوادِ الدُّنْيا.
همانا شما به توشه‌های تقوا نیازمندترید تا به توشه‌های این دنیا.
Indeed you are in greater need of the provisions of God-wariness than you are of the provisions of this world.
إذَا اتَّقَيْتَ فَاتَّقِ مَحارِمَ اللّهِ.
هرگاه تقوا پیشه کردی، پس از محرماتِ خدا پروا بدار.
When you [wish to] guard yourself, then be wary of the things that Allah has forbidden.
بِالتَّقْوى تُقْطَعُ حُمَةُ (حُمَّةُ) الخَطايا.
با تقوا، زهر و شرارهٔ خطایا از میان می‌رود.
The sting (or blackness) of sins is cut off by God-wariness.
بِالتَّقْوى قُرِنَتِ العِصْمَةُ.
عصمت و پاکی از گناه، همراه و قرینِ تقوا گشته است.
It is with God-wariness that preservation from sin has been paired.
بِالتَّقْوى تَزْكُوا الأعْمالُ.
با تقوا، کردارها پاکیزه و بافضیلت می‌گردد.
Through God-wariness, actions become pure.
ثَوْبُ التُّقى أشْرَفُ المَلابِسِ.
جامهٔ تقوا، شریف‌ترین جامه‌هاست.
The garment of God-wariness is the most honourable of attires.
داوُوا بِالتَّقْوَى الأسْقامَ، وبادِروا بِها الحِمامَ، واعْتَبِرُوا بِمَنْ أضاعَها، ولايَعْتَبِرَنَّ بِكُمْ مَنْ أطاعَها.
بیماری‌های درونی را با تقوا درمان کنید، و با آن به پیشوازِ مرگ روید، و از کسی که آن را تباه ساخته عبرت گیرید، و مبادا مطیعانِ تقوا از شما عبرت بیاموزند.
Treat your [spiritual] ailments with God-wariness and anticipate [and prepare for] your death by it; take a lesson from those who have neglected it and ensure that those who heed to it do not take a lesson from you [for having neglected it].
رَأسُ التَّقْوى تَرْكُ الشَّهْوَةِ.
سرآمدِ تقوا، رها کردنِ شهوت است.
The cornerstone of God-wariness is abandoning lustful desires.
سَبَبُ صَلاحِ الإيمانِ التَّقْوى.
ریشه و انگیزهٔ درستی و کمالِ ایمان، تقواست.
The cause of the probity of [one’s] faith is God-wariness.
صَلاحُ التَّقْوى تَجَنُّبُ الرَّيْبِ.
درستیِ تقوا، در دوری گزیدن از شک و شبهه است.
The probity of God-wariness is [in] eschewing doubt.
طُوبى لِمَنْ أشْعَرَ التَّقْوى قَلْبَهُ.
خوشا به حال کسی که دلش را سرشار از تقوا گرداند.
Blessed is the one who fills his heart with God-wariness.
عَلَيْكَ بِالتُّقى فَإنَّهُ خُلُقُ الأنْبِياءِ.
بر تو باد به تقوا، چراکه خوی و منشِ پیامبران است.
Espouse God-wariness, for indeed it is the character of the Prophets.
عَلَيْكَ بِالتَّقْوى فَإنَّهُ أشْرَفُ نَسـَب.
بر تو باد به تقوا، زیرا شریف‌ترین نَسَب و تبار است.
Espouse God-wariness, for indeed it is the most honourable distinction.
عَلَيْكَ بِتَقْوَى اللّهِ فِي الغَيْبِ والشَّهادَةِ، ولُزُومِ الحَقِّ فِي الغَضَبِ وَالرِّضا.
بر تو باد به پروا از خدا در نهان و آشکار، و پایبندی به حق در هنگامِ خشم و خشنودی.
Espouse God-wariness in hiding and in the open, and adhere to the truth in anger and pleasure.
عَلَيْكُمْ بِالتَّقْوى فَإنَّهُ خَيْرُ زاد،وَ أحْرَزُ عَتاد.
بر شما باد به تقوا، چراکه بهترین توشه و استوارترین سازوبرگ است.
Espouse God-wariness, for it is indeed the best provision and the most protective accoutrement.
فَاتَّقُوا اللّهَ تَقِيَّةَ مَنْ سَمِعَ فَخَشَعَ، واقْتَرَفَ فَاعْتَرَفَ، ووَجِلَ فَعَمِلَ وَحاذَرَ فَبادَرَ.
پس از خدا پروا کنید، پروای کسی که چون شنید فروتن گشت، چون گناهی کرد اعتراف نمود، چون ترسید عمل کرد، و چون بیمناک شد شتاب ورزید.
So be wary of [your duty towards] Allah with the God-wariness of one who listens hence humbles himself, who commits [a sin] hence he confesses, who becomes afraid hence he performs virtuous acts and is cautious hence he hastens [towards good deeds].
فَاتَّقُوا اللّهَ تَقِيَّةَ مَنْ أيْقَنَ فَأحْسَنَ، وعُبِّرَ فَاعْتَـبَرَ، وحُذِّرَ فَازْدَجَرَ، وَبُصِّرَ فَاسْتَبْصَرَ، وخافَ العِقابَ وعَمِلَ لِيَوْمِ الحِسابِ.
پس از خدا پروا بدارید، پروای کسی که یقین آورد و نیکی نمود، عبرت آموخت و پند گرفت، هشدارش دادند و بازایستاد، حقیقت را دید و بصیرت یافت، از کیفر ترسید و برای روز حساب کار کرد.
So be wary of [your duty towards] Allah with the God-wariness of one who attains certitude hence he does good, who is given lesson [from the happenings of this world] so he takes it, who is warned so he desists, who is shown [the right path] so he sees [it], and who fears the chastisement [of the Hereafter] and works for the Day of Reckoning.
فَاتَّقُوا اللّهَ عِبادَ اللّهِ تَقِيَّةَ مَنْ شَغَلَ بِالفِكْرِ قَلْبَهُ،وَ أوْجَفَ الذِّكْرُ بِلِسانِهِ، وقَدَّمَ الخَوْفَ لأمانِهِ.
ای بندگانِ خدا، از خدا پروا کنید، پروای کسی که دلش را به اندیشه سرگرم داشت، یادِ خدا بر زبانش روان بود، و ترس را برای ایمنی‌اش پیش فرستاد.
So be wary of [your duty towards] Allah, O servants of Allah, with the God-wariness of one who has preoccupied his heart with reflection, who [always] has the remembrance [of Allah] on his tongue and who advances [good deeds out of] fear for his safety [in the Hereafter].
فَاتَّقُوااللّهَ جِهَةَ ما خَلَقَكُمْ لَهُ واحْذَرُوا مِنْهُ كُنْهَ ما حَذَّرَكُمْ مِنْ نَفْسِهِ، واسْتَحِقُّوا مِنْهُ ما أعَدَّ لَكُمْ بِالتَّنَجُّزِ لِصِدْقِ ميعادِهِ، والحَذَرِ مِنْ هَوْلِ مَعادِهِ.
پس از خدا در جهتِ هدفی که شما را برای آن آفریده پروا کنید، و از او چنان بیم دارید که شما را از ذاتش بیم داده است، و با باور به راستیِ وعده‌اش و بیم از هراسِ رستاخیزش، شایستهٔ آنچه برایتان مهیا ساخته شوید.
So fear Allah in relation to the purpose for which He has created you, and be cautious of [your duty towards] Him just as He has warned you of Himself. Make yourself deserving of what He has promised you by having confidence in the truth of His promise and being afraid of the terror of Day of Resurrection.
