اَلْيَأسُ يُعِزُّ الأسيرَ.
قطعِ امید از غیر خدا، اسیر را نیز عزیز و سرافراز می‌گرداند.
Loss of hope [in others] exalts the prisoner.
اَلْيَأسُ خَيْرٌ مِنَ التَّضَرُّعِ إلَى النّاسِ.
قطعِ امید از مردم، بهتر از التماس و خواهش از آنان است.
Loss of hope [in others] is better than entreating the people [for what you need].
بِالْيَأسِ يَكُونُ الغَناءُ.
با چشم‌پوشی از دستِ مردم است که بی‌نیازی حاصل می‌شود.
Through loss of hope [in others] there is [attainment of] self-sufficiency.
تَحَلَّ بِالْيَأسِ مِمّا في أيْدِي النّاسِ، تَسْلَمْ مِنْ غَوائِلِهِمْ، وتُحْرِزِ المَوَدَّةَ مِنْهُمْ.
خود را به دل بریدن از آنچه در دستِ مردم است بیارای، تا از گزندهایشان در امان مانی و محبتشان را به دست آوری.
Adorn yourself with loss of hope in that which people possess and you will become safe from their malice and you will acquire their affection.
تَعْجيلُ اليَأسِ أحَدُ الظَّفَرَيْنِ.
شتاب در قطعِ امید از خلق، یکی از دو ظفر و پیروزی است.
Hastening the loss of hope [in others] is one of the two triumphs.
حُسْنُ اليَأسِ أجْمَلُ مِنْ ذُلِّ الطَّلَبِ.
نیکوییِ چشم‌پوشی از مردم، زیباتر از خواریِ درخواست از آنان است.
The virtue of loss of hope [in others] is better than the humiliation of asking [for their help].
قَدْ يَكُونُ اليَأسُ إدْراكاً إذا كانَ الطَّمَعُ هَلاكاً.
چه بسا دل بریدن نوعی دستیابی باشد، آنگاه که طمع مایهٔ هلاکت است.
Loss of hope may [indeed] be an achievement [in times] when covetousness is destructive.
مَنْ أَيِسَ مِنْ شَيْء سَلا عَنْهُ.
هر که از چیزی قطعِ امید کرد، دلش از آن آرام گرفت و فراموشش ساخت.
One who loses hope in a thing forgets about it.
مَرارَةُ اليَأْسِ خَيْرٌ مِنَ التَّضَرُّعِ إلَى النّاسِ.
تلخیِ نومیدی از خلق، بهتر از تضرع و التماس به درگاهِ مردم است.
The bitterness of despair is better than turning entreatingly towards the people.
أَوَّلُ الإخْلاصِ اَلْيَأسُ مِمّا في أيْدِي النّاسِ. [^1]: The concept of losing hope here is one where hope is not placed in the help (and possessions) of creastures, rather one places his hope only in Allah.
آغازِ اخلاص، دل کندن و نومیدی از آنچه در دستِ مردم است می‌باشد.
The beginning of sincerity is losing hope in that which people possess.
بَـرُّوا أيْتامَكُمْ، وواسَوْا فُقَرائَـكُمْ، وارْفُقُوا بِضُعَفائِكُمْ.
به یتیمانتان نیکی کنید، با نیازمندانتان مواسات ورزید، و با ناتوانانتان مهربان باشید.
Be good to your orphans, help your poor folk and be kind to the weak amongst you.
مَنْ ظَلَمَ يَتيماً عَقَّ أوْلادَهُ.
هر که بر یتیمی ستم کند، فرزندانش با او نافرمانی و عاق کنند.
Whoever oppresses an orphan has severed his ties with his children.
مَنْ رَعَى الأيْتامَ رُعِيَ في بَنيهِ.
هر که از یتیمان سرپرستی و مراقبت کند، از فرزندانش مراقبت خواهد شد.
Whoever takes care of the orphans, his children will be cared for.
كافِلُ اليَتيمِ والمِسْكينِ عِنْدَ اللّهِ مِنَ المُكْرَمينَ.
سرپرستِ یتیم و مسکین، نزد خداوند از گرامی‌داشتگان است.
The one who takes charge of caring for the orphans and the needy is considered [to be] among the honourable ones in the sight of Allah.
كافِلُ اليَتيمِ اَثيْرٌ عِنْدَ اللّهِ.
سرپرستِ یتیم، نزد خداوند برگزیده و ارجمند است.
One who takes charge of caring for the orphans is favoured in the sight of Allah.
اَلتَّيَقُّظُ فِي الدّينِ نِعْمَةٌ عَلى مَنْ رُزِقَهُ.
بیداری و هشیاری در دین، نعمتی است برای کسی که روزی‌اش شده است.
Vigilance in religion is a blessing for the one whom it is bestowed upon.
اَلْيَقْظَةُ نُورٌ، اَلْغَفْلَةُ غُرُورٌ.
بیداری روشنایی است، و غفلت فریب و غرور.
Alertness is illumination, negligence is delusion.
اَلْيَقْظَةُ اِسْتِبْصارٌ.
هوشیاری و بیداری، بینایی و بصیرت است.
Alertness is perspicacity.
قَدْ يُقِّظْتُمْ فَتَـيَقَّظُوا، وهُديتُمْ فَاهْتَدُوا.
شما را بیدار کردند، پس بیدار شوید؛ و هدایتتان نمودند، پس هدایت پذیرید.
Indeed you have been alerted so become vigilant, and you have been guided so follow the guidance.
