ما ضادَّ العُلَماءَ كالجُهّالِ.

وَيْلٌ لِمَنْ تَمادى في جَهْلِهِ، وطُوبى لِمَنْ عَقَلَ واهْتَدى.
وای بر آن که در نادانی‌اش پایدارد و خوشا آن که خردمند شود و هدایت یابد!
Woe be to the one who persists in his ignorance and blessed is the one who realizes [his mistake] and finds the right course.
لاغِنى لِجاهِل.
نادان را توانگری نیست.
There is no independence for an ignorant person.
لايُرَى الجاهِلُ إلاّ مُفَرِّطاً (مُفْرِطاً).
نادان را جز کوتاهی‌کننده [یا زیاده‌رو] نبینند.
The ignorant one is not seen to be anything but immoderate (or excessive).
لايَرْدَعُ الجَهُولَ إلاّ حَدُّ الحُسامِ.
نادان را جز تیزیِ شمشیر باز ندارد.
Nothing restrains the foolish except the edge of a sword.
إعْصِ الجاهِلَ تَسْلَمْ. [^1]: Or, if taken in the context of Q68:6: Every ignorant person is demented.
نادان را نافرمانی کن تا سلامت مانی.
Disobey the ignorant and you will be safe.
كَفى بِجَهَنَّمَ نَـكالاً.
جهنم را بس که کیفرگاه است.
Hell is sufficient as a punishment.
وَقالَ ـ عَليه السّلامُ ـ في وَصْفِ جَهَنَّمَ: نارٌ شديدٌ كَلْبُها، عال لَحَبُها، ساطِعٌ لَهَبُها، مُتَأَجِّجٌ سَعيرُها، مُتَغَيِّظٌ زَفيرُها، بَعيدٌ خُمُودُها، ذاك وقُودُها، مُتَخَوِّفٌ وَعيدُها.
در وصف جهنم فرمود: آتشی است که سگ‌دستی‌اش سخت و شعله‌هایش بلند و زبانه‌اش برافراخته و فروغش شعله‌ور و ناله‌اش خشمناک و خاموشی‌اش دور و هیزمش [مردم] و تهدیدش بیمناک است.
He (‘a) said in his description of hell: [It is] a fire whose burning is intense, its roar is loud, its flames are rising, its blaze is incinerating, its groans are terrifying, its abatement is remote, its fuel is igniting, [and] its horrors are terrifying.
وقال ـ عليه السّلام ـ في وَصفِ جَهَنَّمِ: لايَظْعَنُ مُقيمُها، وَلا يُفادى أسيرُها، وَلا تُقْصَمُ كُبُولُها، لا مُدَّةَ لِلدّارِ فَتَفْنى، وَلا أجَلَ لِلْقَوْمِ فَيُقْضى.
در وصف جهنم فرمود: مقیمش کوچ نکند و اسیرش فدیه پذیرد و غل‌هایش گسسته نشود؛ نه سرای را مدتی است که فنا یابد و نه قوم را اجل است که فرا رسد.
He (‘a) said while describing hell: Its inmate cannot leave, its prisoner cannot be released by ransom and its shackles cannot be broken. This abode has no fixed age so that it may perish, nor is there a lifespan for its inmates that they may pass away.
إنَّ أهْلَ النّارِ كُلُّ كَفُور مَكُور.
اهل آتش هر کافرِ حیله‌گری است.
Verily all disbelieving schemers are inmates of the fire.
وقالَ ـ عَليه السّلام ـ في وَصْفِ النّارِ: غَمِرٌ قَرارُها، مُظْلِمَةٌ أقْطارُها، حامِيَةٌ قُدُورُها، فَظيعَةٌ أُمُورُها.
در وصف آتش فرمود: قعرش عمیق و اطرافش تاریک و دیگ‌هایش جوشان و کارهایش هولناک است.
He (‘a) also said in his description of hellfire: Its pits are engulfed [with fire], its sides are pitch-dark, its vessels are scorching hot and everything about it is horrid.
لَنْ يَنْجُوَ مِنَ النّارِ إلاّ التّارِكُ عَمَلَها.
از آتش نرهَد مگر آن که عملِ آن را ترک کند.
None will be saved from the fire of hell except the one who abandons its actions (i.e. the actions that lead to it).
لَيْسَ لِهذا الجِلْدِ الرَّقيقِ صَبْرٌ عَلَى النّارِ.
این پوستِ نازک را بر آتش صبری نیست.
This tender skin does not have the tolerance to withstand the fire [of hell].
مَنْ أشْفَقَ مِنَ النّارِ اجْتَنَبَ المُحَرَّماتِ.
هر که از آتش بیم کند، از محرّمات بپرهیزد.
One who is afraid of hellfire keeps away from that which has been forbidden.
وَفْدُ النّارِ أبَداً مُعَذَّبُونَ.
میهمانانِ آتش همیشه در عذاب‌اند.
The inmates of hell are eternally tormented.
وارِدُ النّارِ مَؤَبَّدُ الشَّقاءِ.
درآمدگانِ آتش بدبختی‌شان جاودان است.
The one who enters hellfire is forever wretched.
وَقُودُ النّارِ يَوْمَ القِيمَةِ كُلُّ غَنِيّ بَخِلَ بِمالِهِ عَلَى الفُقَراءِ، وَكُلُّ عالِم باعَ الدّينَ بِالدُّنيا.
هیزمِ آتش در روز قیامت هر توانگری است که با مالش بر فقیران بخل ورزید و هر دانشمندی است که دین را به دنیا فروخت.
The fuel of hellfire on the Day of Judgment will comprise of every rich person who was miserly towards the poor with his wealth and every learned scholar who sold his Hereafter for the world.
إحْذَرُوا ناراً حَرُّها شَديدٌ وقَعْرُها بَعيدٌ وحُلِيُّها حَديدٌ.
بترسید از آتشی که گرمایش سخت و قعرش دور و زیورش آهن است.
Be wary of the fire whose heat is intense, whose pit is deep and whose ornaments are made of [molten] iron.
إحْذَرُوا ناراً لَحيبُها عَتيدٌ و لَهَبُها شَديدٌ وعَذابُها أبَداً جديدٌ.
بترسید از آتشی که زبانه‌اش آماده و شعله‌اش سخت و عذابش همیشه نو است.
Be wary of the fire whose tumultuous blaze is ready, its flames are intense and its torment is forever renewed.
النّار غايَةُ المُفْرِطينَ.
آتش غایتِ زیاده‌روان است.
Hellfire is the final end of the extremists.
